I live in Belgium where I help turn data into information. Previously, Austin, ex academic musicologist, Los Angeles and the eastern seaboard. Cringe.

One of my hopes for 2026 is that browser vendors take more responsibility for today's pervasively bad experiences. Nobody wants a slow site, but they also don't want to dismiss a mailing-list pop-up that blocks scrolling. Browsers need to step in:

Embedded in this year's network and device estimates is hopeful news about the trajectory of devices and networks. It has never been easier to deliver pages quickly, but we are not collectively…

I don’t know why (other than copyright) but this work training waiting room is playing the Overture to the Magic Flute and I dig it.

I miss tamales.
it fascinates me how most everyone in the U.S. does turkey for Thanksgiving, but we are all over the map as to what we eat for Christmas (as is proper for a hugely diverse nation).

I come from a Christmas prime rib roast family, myself.
I also use the bacon method. Although turkey is Christmas dinner where I come from.

The irony of course is that Black Americans are probably far more likely to be descended from people who lived in North America before 1776 than white Americans are.

I got suddenly very sick to my stomach at work and went home. (I was a bit terrified.)

It was exhausting and I’m still so tired but I have no idea what happened.

BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

I love beans. 🫘

Black Beans and Lentils (almost all lentils) are my favorites!
If you are interested in the easiest, most accessible, Normal, and practical way to crowd out a plate of meat, there is but one answer...
Just learned about the “Beans is How” campaign, and I’m all about this vision. Unironically, this is a very smart idea, and one of the better-thought out Theories of Change I’ve seen. Who cares if Big Bean interests are involved, this is an essential change to make sdg2advocacyhub.org/beans-is-how/

Oh and also it was Dutch yesterday and French today. I can read enough of either language that this doesn’t matter at all but oh my Belgium.
My favorite part of my bank is that I can only log in with French or Dutch and then I get a screen that says, in French or Dutch, “you chose a different language for your web access in your contract” and THEN it is all in English.
