Poilievre was never just about axing the carbon tax. As their platform this week reveals, he's gunning for the whole package of climate policies. If he wins, he'll take us backwards on this fight of our lives, as this UK-based analysis explains:

Analysis: Conservative election win could add 800m tonnes to Canada’s emissions by 2035 - Carbon Brief
A Conservative victory over the Liberals in the Canadian election could lead to nearly 800m extra tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over the next decade

Worth celebrating: almost all new capacity being added to the U.S. power grid in recent quarters has been renewable energy! And even small solar is doing big things! vist.ly/3mzzn7f

If Canada is looking for nation-building projects that improve affordability, enhance reliability, reduce our reliance on the US, and set us up for the future, don’t have to look much further than interprovincial transmission.

By me and Philippe Dunsky:

Canada needs a nation-building project. It should start with interprovincial power transmission
The future is electric – and Canada should leverage its provinces’ complementary strengths and needs to build an east-to-west network and reach our full energy potential

Minister Steven Guilbeault @stevenguilbeault.bsky.social was at #GLOBEXChange this week, on choosing Canada on clean energy and technologies. Check it out 👇
At #GLOBEXChange my message to Canadian businesses and clean tech investors is to choose Canada and Canadian workers. 🇨🇦

Our clean energy, critical minerals, and green technologies help make our country stronger and more secure while creating good jobs.

It’s time to build.

Worth 15 minutes of your time to listen to the PM’s speech on the #TeamCanada approach to US tariffs.
Here's the speech if you haven't heard it. 13 minutes of your time. Share it with your American friends and neighbours, because they won't see it otherwise. Circulate it in Mexico and Denmark, France and the UK, Panama and Germany, Poland and Estonia, and especially -- especially -- Ukraine.
Trudeau: Canada will retaliate with 25% tariffs on $155B of U.S. goods

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Some much needed and welcome perspective 👇
Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

#1278 in the list of what’s at risk in inadequately addressing climate change.

I don’t care that my kids roll their eyes when I tell them we are skating on the #RideauCanal, telling them to appreciate it while it’s here.

It’s the perfect example of “when you are older you will understand.”
