#soilscience water-stable aggregates of Salar del Huasco 😍😍😍

A month ago I went to an altiplano wetland called Salar del Huasco. What a beautiful place! We measured field saturated hydraulic conductivity (SATURO) and WC (TEROS12).

In #soil #science, ternary plots for soil texture classification are essential… but creating them consistently and reproducibly can be challenging. That’s why we developed ggsoiltexture, an R package built on ggplot2.

Some of these federal cuts are making America more vulnerable to wildfire. This work is essential and will not be picked up by the private sector or states. It’s already completely underfunded even before these current actions targeting federal workers.
The uncertainty caused by Trump’s funding and hiring freezes has limited training, postponed work to reduce flammable vegetation in areas vulnerable to wildfire and left some firefighters with little choice but to leave the force.
How Trump’s Federal Funding and Hiring Freezes Are Leaving America Vulnerable to Catastrophic Wildfire
Uncertainty over funding and hiring stemming from the president’s executive orders has limited wildfire training and postponed work to reduce flammable vegetation. It has also led some firefighters…

As wildfires rage through the LA area, air pollution is a major concern. It is important to recognize that such disasters also severely impact river water quality through land-river connectivity, particularly following post-fire rainfall.
