Until my toddler's pronunciation gets clearer, her emotional support stuffie's name will unfortunately be Fuck.

My older kid left for summer camp today, and apparently made us an offer we couldn't refuse on her way out. 😳

I don't like fireworks, but please enjoy this picture of a well-fed monarch butterfly caterpillar on the butterfly weed plant at my inlaws' house. #gardening #butterflygarden

People have our ice cube trays all tied up making ice cubes (with plain old *water!* Imagine that!) But it's been 90ish degrees out for days and we have some silicone candy molds I could repurpose to make coffee ice cubes, so I guess I can't complain.

The lavender bush that has to be trimmed every year because it hogs the sprinkler head yielded a nice little crop of culinary lavender. Perfect for the one person (me) who likes lavender in our household. #gardening #ediblelandscaping

A garden ninja paid us a visit last night. Probably to tell us to stop being lazy and put down more mulch. #gardening

Got nothing done because I spent the afternoon baking rhubarb pies, but I can't say that I regret it.

I wish this light bulb would die properly so we can replace it, instead of hanging around making it look like we shop at 90's Underground Rave Supply or Cursed Liminal Spaces R Us.

I'm guessing the answer is something like, "plenty of sand and/or succulent-appropriate potting mix in the soil + bulletproof mulch covering in the winter + maybe something or other to prevent overwatering," but it's bugging me now.

There is a CACTUS growing in the rock bed outside the place where my older kid has swimming lessons, and I am confused. We live nowhere near prime cactus habitat. Our winters get far too cold for too long, and our climate is the opposite of arid. How are they doing this?! #gardening #succulents

Me: I need to eat less sugar and more fruits and vegetables

Also me: Adding dried cherries to the double chocolate biscotti counts toward my intake of fruits

Kids are weird. My older daughter has deemed our new car "cool" because of...its apparently outstanding door handle design. Even though the old car had door handles that were almost exactly the same.

Good thing they sprung for the anti-bird spikes, birds might have built a nest on their pipe or something.

The one good thing that came of our washing machine crapping out and having to use the one at my parents' house was the opportunity to admire their prolific garden of mayapples.

Welp, the reviews all said the rosemary seeds had a very low germination rate/didn't sprout at all, and I've had zero luck w/rosemary in the past, so I started a whole bunch. Am currently at 10/12 sprouted. Did not anticipate this. What do?

Chocolate Rice Krispy treats to provide a brief respite from the horrors. Note the sprinkling of Red Hots on the slice my husband claimed for himself.

I'm tossing pinch-of-this, dash-of-that, whatever-feels-right of such and such to the beef broth, while my husband and daughter are over there making Rice Krispy treats SCIENTIFICALLY.

It has been -0- days since the last "put your wallet down somewhere unusual and make yourself really late walking past it 6-10 times while frantically searching for it" occurrence in our household.

We've got our year's crop of garden asparagus. Not my favorite veggie, but I'll eat some anyway because it's good for me.

The marigold seeds aren't so tiny, but they take the cake for the most unusual-looking seeds I've handled.

Dang. Rosemary seeds, too.

King of bitters seeds are also really freaking tiny.
