This weekend I examined some nematodes I found in a dead beetle in my yard — from the zigzag pattern of intestine cells I think it might be an Auanema (famous for having 3 sexual morphs: males, females, and hermaphrodites) species, but will have to check the sequence to know for sure:

A long-ago tyrant named Mandy
thought a likeness in stone would be dandy,
but the statue fell down,
leaving only a frown,
and the rest has become rather sandy.

I knew it was the season (they migrate up from the Okinawa islands around now), and had it in the back of my mind I might see one, but it was just a weekend trail run to the lab to do some worm maintenance, so very fortunate… I think I manage to see one of these once every 2-3 years

Also I originally said "Registration Tools" but Pairwise Stitching shows up in a different plugin section, "Stitching", when you install BigStitcher via the plugin updater. And, I had to try several different values of "Check peaks" to get the leaf example to work.

I struggle with Fiji's non-user-friendliness a lot.
For 2 images, the "Pairwise Stitching" tool might be the most straightforward. The only controllable parameter is "check peaks". The ImageJ wiki link is: imagej.net/imagej-wiki-...
It worked on two cropped regions here (one rotated and blurred)

Have you tried all the Registration tools in Fiji? The BigStitcher plugin is what I normally use for aligning 3D images, but it also works for 2D.
