OMG! I think I finally tracked down and killed the brutal ground loop that was infesting my now dual-amp setup. 🥳 A combination of a Furman PST-8 and a Morley Hum Exterminator in the right places.

Cranking the #bognershiva "clean" channel gets a pretty cool "vintage non-master-volume" vibe, so I thought, "How would it sound to play bass through the head and run from the load box to a bass cab simulator in the computer?". New slightly taller feet for the load box so that it clears the handle on the amp head. A small matter, but pleasing. (Glowing-eyed skull and glittery black bird sold separately — but also pleasing. 💀🐦⬛

Drum lessons at #schoolofrockchia continue with “Sweet Child o’ Mine”. The dramatic ornaments and crescendos in the intro and elsewhere are OK, but deceptively simple kick drum pattern and little fills in the verse are severely testing my motor skills. 😅

I fear the pedalboard cabling has formed the sigil odegra (meaning, in the language of the Black Priesthood of Ancient Mu means "Hail the Great Beast, Devourer of Worlds”) and now grinds out an endless fog of low-grade evil … but, on the other hand, what else could I possibly have expected? 🤷♂️

Drum lessons at the #schoolofrockchia continue. We’ve now moved on to “Sweet Home Alabama”, which (even simplified) demands *considerably* more independent control of one’s limbs. (And I have only fairly rudimentary control of my limbs at the best of times. 😅)

I’m being sorely tempted by a second-hand valve amplifier “available in my area”. 😳 And this after years of telling myself “a real amp is impractical in your context”. But I may go along next week and give it a twiddle … just out of curiosity, you know! 😅

As I wire and re-wire the pedal board, I am slowly acquiring a veritable library of cables of different lengths and connector types. On one hand, I can increasingly wonder, “Oh, do I have one of those?” and find that the answer is “yes”. 😁

And the “restringing is way overdue” project concludes with the #epiphoneinspiredby1964texan which also gets fresh batteries in its little acoustic pickup. I’m going to set a reminder in my calendar so that I remember to change strings next time before they start breaking. 😅

The “restringing is way overdue” project continues today with “non-humbucker” guitars, including the #squierstratocaster . Guitar snobs look down on Squiers, but this is a solid little guitar. 👍 The original pickups were, admittedly, replaced with cool, locally made ones from #marateaguitarworks 😎

I was heroically catching up on my guitar homework … until I broke the high E-string. 🙄 That guitar — all the guitars and basses, really — are a bit overdue for string changes …. 😳😅

Right! Having finished the Túrin lectures and (mostly) caught up on all the critical administrivia that I'd ignored while finishing them, it's time to return to things like my guitar homework! 🎸 (Only 12 out of 14 days late .... 😳 But I'm good to go, now! 😅👍)

I’ve decided to stick to being annoyed by the small, unimportant things. Like discovering the local hardware stores don’t have the specific nuts and bolts I need and grumblingly ordering (and waiting for) the right ones from overseas. 🔩

I declare the Túrin/Oedipus/Sigurðr/Kullervo lectures done. They’ve taken up most of the “free time” 😅 in my last 4 months, and have generated some 40-50k words of lecture scripts — so, probably the equivalent of a few drafts of an MA thesis, even though there’s no unifying argument or anything. 😅
