Heat and humidity become dangerous for humans at lower temperatures than previously thought.

The "wet bulb" temperature threshold for health risks is 88°F (31°C). theconversation.com/how-hot-is-t...
How hot is too hot for the human body? Our lab found heat + humidity gets dangerous faster than many people realize
New research on young, healthy humans found the body begins overheating when exposed to temperatures and humidity lower than previously believed.

As the @ipcc.bsky.social prepare their next report, check out this article on the policy relevance of climate scenarios. Just out on Nature Climate Action, co-authored with @jiesper.bsky.social and other colleagues. 🌱
Science meets policy! Our latest study explores how UN climate policymakers (negotiating int. climate treaties) perceive scientific scenarios.

Not all policymakers have equal access

Bridging the gap may boost climate action🌱🌍

Each piece of news seems a joke until I realize it actually isn’t. It’s just too bad. But let’s keep a cool mind and think how to approach the US collapse more constructively. let’s transfer key climate research teams and institutions to Europe and build from there. We must ride this wave. 🌊 🌍

We definitely need a more balanced approach AND to maximise synergies between mitigation and adaptation, plus biodiversity.
📊 EU Climate Strategy: Too Focused on Mitigation?
EU companies are prioritizing climate mitigation, but what about adaptation, circular economy & biodiversity?
💡 Is this enough for real climate action, or do we need a more balanced approach?

Show your stripes: these ones show ocean acidification.
Many people don’t know that this is more than enough reason to phase out fossil fuels fast, even if CO2 didn’t cause global warming (which of course it does). Other ocean basins here: oceanacidificationstripes.info/s/ph/basin/g...

So much for the urgency of adaptation. It is still playing second fiddle to mitigation everywhere, including, decades after, at the COP. It just does not look “markety” enough. We will rather end our “civilisation” than move on from the limited imagination of short-term profit.

Climate & communication people out there: I am looking for experts on the frontlines of digital technologies (VR, 3D, etc) who are innovating on communication about climate change scenarios and extreme events. For an event in March24. Any tips? Obrigada :)
