Did you imagine the day we might choose a German automobile over an American maker because the American company is run by a nazi?

Me either, and for the love of Edison we need range more than 0-60 times to shame a 90’s sports car.
I don't see how Tesla's Model 3 can survive if Benz can offer an alternative EV this cheap, with this kind of performance, on top of the 15% tariff that it's charged in the US.

Imagine what this model does to Tesla in Europe, where Benz pays no tariffs.

So actually there is no plan you mean?

The sailors of the Marshall Islands navigated the vast network of islands by feeling the rhythm of the waves. At one time it was believed they relied upon observation of the currents however the currents were subsequently shown to lack the necessary coherence. They actually use proprioception. 🤯

This trail has the best start. There’s no sign. You park on a shred of gravel next to the road, bust a bush and go underneath a giant bridge log then up log jam cascade before the trail is clearly defined.

It’s primitive so no blazes and climbing 1000’/‘mi the further up the less worn it is.

A federal judge didn’t “steal” the Commander-in-Chief’s powers—she ruled that DoD exceeded the limits Congress set. That is the rule of law working as designed. What threatens the Republic isn’t judicial review, but officials who insist they’re above it.

I have a vivid memory from childhood when I first realized how many cars on the road and how many are produced each year. I couldn’t wrap my mind around the quantity of resources this required nor imagine how such excesses were sustainable.

Because it’s not, we just do it anyway.
This is such B S. Apparently we are destroying the economy because we can’t afford new phones, instead of putting the blame on those who made such purchases impossible for Americans struggling to just buy food and pay rent.

How device hoarding by Americans is costing economy — CNBC
Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever before, and while it may be consumer smart, it comes at a cost to work productivity and the U.S. economy.

Another significant entry point of PFAS into the food supply is via sewage solids. Shit, pesticides and PFAS, awesome right?

We drove 3,000 up a steep forest road to see a lookout, quite the view as you can see 😹. It’s always worthwhile to get off the beaten path though and you can’t know what’s there without seeing for yourself.

Rather brisk up there.

An elfin saddle, a Matsutake, and a delightful ring of Fomitopsis.

Matsutake smell like red hots or atomic fireballs.

Went for a ride to see the world and ended up at the top of a logging road. This was just cut this summer and what I thought was plastic marking tape trash was in fact some orange peel fungus just growing out of the rock.

At 2,200’ ASL the Salish sea is so expansive it’s almost vertigo inducing.

An example of where Ai can be really neat: caring for our chickens I started wondering about their vocalizations. After reading a few papers on the topic I noticed the researchers often used spectrographic analysis which gave me an idea. I made some high fidelity recordings with a scarlet 2i2 and

This is basically my thesis for life except that in my mind I call it entropy. We live in fear of our own and others intentions so we develop elaborate customs of control to regulate society, but in doing so crowd out room for the unexpected. Yet the unexpected is where beauty and purpose exist.

We need civility and courtesy like we need a president who can form complete sentences and not call journalists piggys.

Like leading by example isn’t a thing.

“Survival of the fittest”
is often used to justify capitalist society, but this wasn’t a phrase that Darwin used.
He described it as “better designed for an immediate, local environment" and wrote of groups that survived through empathy and sharing rather than greed.

My theory is that corporations aren’t inherently evil, rather they act as organisms with the prime directive of survival. It’s the aggregate outcome of individuals acting in their own interest, and the culling of those who cease to align. Yet unlike individuals, the corporation doesn’t have../

I have this idea about a platform for forming ad-hoc buyers cartels. Totally sidestep retail, get commitments from 5,000 tv buyers, assign a sourcing agent who negotiates an optimal deal on their behalf without the games. Flip the script basically

The amount of power Trump appears to hold over Johnson is unseemly, lurid even.

What skeletons in his closet could account for such obsequiousness? It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if in his private meetings Putin passes him dossiers of kompromat just to watch Trump single handily destroy us.
