Trapped in a world he never made
Doh! I forgot about that entry- thanks for the reply

Absolutely love these but this entry raises a question: were there any rights related issues on using Jack Woolgar’s likeness on the cover? I imagine the Doctor & companions have permissions written into their contracts but it’s rare to see supporting actors likenesses used

Just looked on eBay and nobody’s selling it in the uk, meaning it’s cheaper to buy the originals once air postage is factored in! Like yourself I love Baxter reprints- I still have copies of Warlock, Swamp Thing & Manhunter bought when they were originally released back in the 80’s

It’s an apt question as usually the transmission time would indicate if it’s child suitable. But while it’s a double episode with most of that time being post watershed, it starts at 8.30, leaving an uncomfortable ambiguity

Genuinely jealous you have this- it’s the first time I’ve even heard of it and I have a feeling it never made it to the UK when originally published. I’d love to own a copy

Here's a link to the original news report- I haven't been able to find any retraction or correction having been issued so it appears genuine www.channel4.com/news/nigel-f...

Marvel’s tone deafness is best exemplified in Spider-Man where millionaire tech bro Norman Osborn becomes psychotic, experiments with form enhancing drugs and kills a young woman as a result… and his story has now transitioned to one of someone seeking redemption and depicted a hero

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife but they never expected six uniformed police officers to turn up at their door

Still, Farage has form on this- when appointed to the EU fisheries committee he failed to show up to 41 out of 42 meetings. He doesn't give a s**t about anyone but himself

How many jobs will that cost? Last Christmas day the BBC showed programmes made in London; Bristol and Wales, with hundreds of people employed to make them. Look at White City: the only way to mitigate the economic cost of closing the BBCtv centre was to make one of the UK's biggest shopping centres

And to be fair to Nation, it wasn’t as if other Hinchcliffe era stories didn’t used identical plots: the crippled genius out for revenge against the universe is used in Genesis; Morbius; Deadly Assassin and Talons!

With Terror of the Zygons; Android Invasion and Seeds of Doom. Stories set in contemporary Britain with the uncanny operating next to larger than life villains. I wonder what would have happened had Dr Who chosen this format instead?
November 15, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Some criticise Hinchcliffe for being too samey but season 13 shows two potential futures for Dr Who: the gothic era made manifest in season 14 with Planet of Evil; Pyramids of Mars and the Brain of Morbius. But there’s an alternative road not taken of reformatting the show into the Avengers /ctd

Sadly similar to British politics: in 2016 Cameron was thought to be the worst PM in over a hundred years. Now he doesn’t even make the list of the worst five
