I for one appreciate the effort that Walter Isaacson, Pamela Paul and Jann Wenner are going to in order to confirm, “Yes, the media outlets that shaped conversations for the past few decades were just as bad as you thought, deliberately and on purpose.”

Republican super pacs have a donation to actual spending ratio that is almost unfathomably bad, and even the dollars that are actually spent on political ads etc are often egregiously mistargeted

this really ought to be a bigger story than it is; multiple state republican parties are collapsing because they can’t raise enough money to stay afloat. the consultant grifter class are eating the party alive right before an election that requires them to mobilize better than ever before.
not just this, but multiple state republican parties — in states like, say, ARIZONA — are going completely broke. GOTV is going to be a real and fucking serious issue for the GOP in 2024, trump is spending his entire war chest on lawyers, and many of the state parties are on life support.
trump is going to bankrupt the RNC when he wins the primary and they have to cover his legal expenses and the GA trial is going to be carried live on television during primary season, it’s awfully, awfully early to go all-in on doom

The entire water crisis in the American West comes down to cows eating alfalfa in a landscape where neither belongs. The delta of the Colorado could be reborn with the water that today goes to produce a third of 1% of the nation’s cattle production. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...

A fun way you can confirm that conservatives hate of trans people is a microchip-swap type fad is to look up conservative reactions to MULAN (1998).

They hated it but barely mention the gender-bending cross-dressing stuff, but instead are mad that it portrays women serving in combat.

For all the fun and opportunities it afforded for a minute I think the move from social networks to mass social media was a mistake and we're all going to be much better-adjusted if and when we start getting back into more intentional communities where you can't really be online microfamous

This took five years, failed to uncover anything illegal in Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings, and part of the price of it was leaving a Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney in office.

And the gun charge, if it could be appealed, would not survive SCOTUS's Bruen standard.
