About 7 weeks into waiting for an MRI with what looks like a loooong way to go. The Ottawa wait times for lower priority patients are 44 - 82% longer than the provincial average. I've been waiting for a nerve conduction study for a couple of months longer than that & no date for that either yet.

Ottawans, be sure to let your councillor know how you feel about Lansdowne 2.0 before it goes to Council vote next week. A recent survey suggests that many residents become opposed to the project as they learn more about it. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
"As you might know, under Lansdowne 2.0, the municipality of the City of Ottawa would build new, smaller north side stands along with a smaller arena that would be built onto existing park space, while selling off public space to a developer to build two condo skyscrapers above a replacement strip of retail businesses. The project is estimated to cost the city taxpayers $437.7 million. In its current form, do you support, somewhat support, somewhat oppose or oppose the Lansdowne 2.0 proposal?" Before hearing that question, a majority supported the project. Sixty-four per cent of respondents either supported or somewhat supported Lansdowne 2.0, while 28 per cent opposed or somewhat opposed it. But after hearing the question, only 33 per cent of respondents supported or somewhat supported the project, while 60 per cent opposed or somewhat opposed it.

Has anybody plausibly explained how Canada would negotiate with Trump without sacrificing sovereignty, or bending the knee? (Pierre Poilievre has not offered a plausible version, no.) If you are negotiating with an addled mad emperor who seeks domination, and who keeps saying he wants to make Canada the 51st state — and Trump has been saying that since he was dealing with Justin Trudeau, pre-2020 — isn’t it a compliment if Trump is complaining that Canada is difficult to deal with? As Justin Ling wrote, it’s good we haven’t struck a deal yet, and not just because there are stirrings in the U.S. Senate pushing back against Trump’s control of tariffs. It’s because if Canada doesn’t stand up now, when will we stand up? “(Economic) benefit is likely to be at the margin, but the impact of political humiliation for the country could actually be large, and I think we’re kind of assuming that those costs are zero,” says Gillezeau. “And I don’t think that’s an accurate read on what it means to be intimidated and humiliated when you are the country that is behaving rationally, and the other folks have just completely lost it. “I mean, if you create a world in which Canadian politicians who are willing to push back lose, you then foster politicians who are successful, who hold on, who will bend the knee. And then that leads to a different Canadian approach to interacting with the United States over time, right? Exactly. The Trump administration aims to build a racist-fueled superstructure of state-powered repression, and a one-party state. They’re murdering fishermen who have sent out distress signals and sending troops to Venezuela, and their U.S. ambassador curses out a trade representative as if he is beneath him. They aren’t our friends, anymore.”
