Anyway the material is hard but I also think that it’s really useful to think about ways you can slip into legitimizing bad systems that lead to these horrific crimes, and start to plan how you might obstruct or object

I think that to a certain extent this is correct, but I think they had a bias against making fun of the right on this because the right wing also consider people’s lives a game and ‘not real’ and so can be played around with which they agree with. I think this is a right wing show honestly

I think because I grew up on action hero stories I always expected that doing the right thing was going to get me some sort of social applause, but for example it often receives silence or derision irl because of social dynamics and power. it’s useful to me to think about

it’s thinking through how these forms of power work that are helpful. The fact that he had to start an independent office to investigate these crimes and was unpopular is somehow affirming to me because it goes against that American grain of ‘doing good feels good’ it sometimes doesn’t

I dunno I probably would make fun of Nazis more than I would make fun of gay people or inclusive policies since like, why would you make fun of the latter, it just enables people’s bigoted tendencies and legitimizes them

I think they do have convictions, the convictions are they should be allowed to do whatever, but the bigger problem with that is that fascism specifically hates that in artists

I think it’s more than that: the anti-intellectualism had permeated their brains so hard that they thought any deep thought and real information or data on anything was way too much work and for rubes
