In 2024 I investigated many similar accounts that posted very similar types of content, claiming to be ‘Trump supporting women’ from the US, but they were fake accounts using images stolen from European influencers.

The findings were reported here 👇 edition.cnn.com/2024/08/28/e...
Stolen photos of European influencers used to push Trump propaganda on X | CNN
A phony campaign on X backing Trump ahead of the US election is using stolen or manipulated photos of real women in Europe to push its agenda.

In email announcing new schedule for some data delayed by shutdown, BEA says some more statistics are being discontinued. These data relate to foreign investment in the US -- which Trump loves to claim he's boosting.

I know you think this comparison is going to be far, but it's farther than you think...
I decided to convert dollars to centimeters. That allows us to visualize, for example, the distance between having no money and being at poverty level — about four city blocks.

Apparently some folks are playing real dumb about skull symbols so let’s play a little game I like to call “Nazi skull or not a Nazi skull”

First up, the Jolly Roger. This is a pirate skull, not a Nazi skull. It means you might get robbed, but prolly not genocided.

With me so far? 1/x

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.

Some Kings, from my newest most favorite thing to read.

@pbump.com you had me at “Matthew Henry Phineas Riall Sankey” (and if I could support this endeavor at that level, I would.)
The newsletter is out. This week: Some Kings.

I can beat the medievalists! In 61 CE, revolting British natives attacked the Roman colony of Camulodunum (Colchester). In 2015, in a domestic space, archs found the remains of a whole box of coriander as well as fenugreek, poppy seeds, cumin, & other Indian spices. Homesick Roman women made curry.
I'm pretty sure there were Indian spices in England before potatoes.
The British Right are just in total freefall into savagery at this point

Laws are not self-executing. Is this an obvious Hatch Act violation? Of course. But without good men and women in government faithfully executing the laws, it doesn't matter.

When this is all over, assuming we still have a constitutional government, there needs to be an accounting.
By my count: Of the 15 Departments of the US Government, 13 launched new BlueSky accounts tonight (all but Justice and HUD), and all 13 have posted explicitly partisan political posts blaming Democrats and/or Chuck Schumer for the government shutdown.

If we are taking in “trillion” of dollars in tariffs:

1. Why haven’t we paid down a cent of the debt?

2. Why can’t we afford to not fuck millions of people over with expiring insurance subsidies?

3. Why is none of it being used to help the abysmal job market?

👇🎯 This interconnectedness is exactly why more bank capital - not what we got post-GFC, but <a lot more> - was necessary. As soon as this web makes it to systematically important financial institutions (& it probably already has), & one does a Lehman, we’re facing another systemic financial crisis.
