A key reason why I (usually) align with the new liberal/neoliberal wing is that it presents a fundamentally positive-sum view of the world where even difficult issues are ultimately solvable with patience, pragmatism, and good policy

This is, I think, simultaneously both optimistic *and true*

I think the best parallel is the Iran-Iraq War. It’s a brutal slog between under equipped and exhausted conventional military forces that probably has no real bearing on how other contemporary conventional conflicts be will be fought.
Looking back through history, what war is most relevant for thinking about how the Ukraine war is going or a hypothetical Taiwan war? I’ve heard of people referring to the Ukraine War as “World War 1 with Blade Runner aesthetics” is that a fair characterization?

part of it is that they hate women, part of it is that they hate her specifically because they think she should want to fuck them, part of it is that all this shit is for the benefit of like 10K people on twitter who've all been legally prohibited from having unsupervised time with their children
I don't really know what the administration hopes to gain by picking fights with the most well-liked pop artists in the United States. You're just generating backlash for no discernible reason outside of owning the libs.
Sabrina Carpenter ratioed the White House after it used her song in an ICE video.

The WH deleted the post…but now it’s back with a new ICE video, this time using an altered clip from Carpenter’s SNL monologue.

It's only been a year since I 100%'d the first Hollow Knight, so maybe it's not a fair assessment

But I think I'm far enough into Silksong to say: all those complaints about it being harder than HK were bullshit. Silksong is substantially more forgiving (even easier) than HK was

This is incredibly wishful thinking. The core problem facing the games industry right now is that the price point consumers want to pay for games is far too low to cover the development costs of games. The industry's choice to keep the $60 ceiling for close to 2 decades had a disastrous effect.

Odds are the gender wage gap will reverse some time this century and I predict we will see very little concern with evening it out and instead the most unholy nonstop toxic discourse the human mind can imagine

It's understandable that Dems aren't forcing Platner out of the race, since they don't have any recent object lessons in the risk of sticking by a mortally wounded candidate until it's far too late to effectively offer an alternative

Yeah so the thing about having wide support among the Democratic base is that it doesn't win you elections in a Republican state

My new Capitolism @thedispatchmedia.bsky.social digs into an under-discussed way that Trump's tariffs are kneecapping American businesses: their INSANE complexity.

You think you know how bad it is? You have no idea.

Bond investors recently told Bessent they don't want Hassett because Hassett will be politically controlled by Trump. But this will be a problem with virtually anyone Trump chooses, since willingness to do what Trump says seems to be sole criterion for the job.
Not sure how you square this circle.
Bond investors have told the US Treasury they are concerned about Kevin Hassett’s potential appointment as Federal Reserve chair, worrying he will cut interest rates aggressively to please President Donald Trump.

Let me get this straight: we trained this guy to be an elite killer, abandoned his country to the Taliban, isolated him, arbitrarily banned him from working and so left his family unsupported.

I don’t know if there’s any more efficient way of producing a mental health crisis outside of torture.

Buddy, I gotta tell you, if I was a GOP representative, my ass would not feel comfortable watching a 15-point swing in a deeply red district ahead of a midterm where the President has been behaving erratically while consistently growing more historically unpopular.

With a really really bad candidate not fit for the seat at all

I'm very much against overly optimistic assessments but those are *really bad fucking numbers* in that context
14% national swing is the exact kind of shit that starts knocking over reach senate seats like dominoes
14% swing from 2024 when all is said and done? Pretty good considering just how high-profile the race became in the last week

Turnout is currently *93%* of 2022, and it's also a 14% swing from 2022 despite similar turnout levels

Unironically yes.
it's important to remember that it's your job, as a social media poster, to maintain Party Discipline at all times
Y’all talked too much about the TN-7 race, turned it high salience, juiced turnout, and wrecked Dems’ chances of sneaking in a win.

He can be wrong on occasion but by god when he's right he's RIGHT
I would argue pretty strenuously that overreliance on nonprofits for social services is, in fact, a centrist position at best. NGO world cloaks itself in progressivism by adhering to cultural signifiers of social justice. Endless land acknowledgements as they take public jobs from union workers.

This is also why I hate hearing “it’s hard to disobey orders.” It’s hard to endure danger. It’s hard to not give up information. That’s precisely why there must be no ground given on the matter—when you bear arms, you take on that responsibility and must endure the consequences if you fail.
anyways read theory. american soldiers do not swear loyalty to the commander-in-chief. they swear loyalty to the constitution. the difference matters--not in sunny skies and good weather, but on bad days, when you are pressed to the breaking point--that is precisely when it matters most.

Personally I'd prefer to just fix the Democratic Party brand such that it can win (or at least potentially win) races in almost every state
Independent, pro-worker, class warrior candidates can absolutely beat Republicans in red states if they are not tainted by the Democratic Party brand. The labor movement can make this happen systematically.

Each of those companies employs about two million people apiece, genuinely what do you think the solution is here
Walmart and McDonald’s are among the top employers of workers who rely on food stamps.

McDonald's CEO raked in $18.2M last year — over 1,000x the company's median employee pay.

Walmart's CEO pocketed $27.4M — 930x the company's median employee pay.

See the problem?
