Everyone always thinks carob is a chocolate replacement, it's not and doesn't taste like it. It's rich and fruity and one of my fave things. There's loads of Portuguese desserts that are or can be, dairy free

Not an American, but I live in Portugal where sweet potatos are common.

Yams are a tuber/root veg, so are sweet potatos, w African name for sweet potato got lost in colonialism so yam gets used interchangeably, but they are different things. Yellow/orange inside, thin skin = sweet potato. Brown thick skin, white inside = yam
