Every tech person I know is in no doubt that 1) AI is here to stay 2) that experts in white collar domains including tech are safe 3) junior people are fucked in part because AI is screwing up their ability to learn and making their positions redundant. They understand pipelines are fucked.

I would have more respect for the "I want to be the team's big star" take had she gone to a school that didn't more or less have their choice of the most elite talent in the country.

This was really, really disappointing at the time... and somehow it's more disappointing now? I had always assumed it was just about money, but I guess that's not the case? Seems crazy to be upset that you're not BMOC when you're a first team All-American...

Belle & Sebastian and R.E.M. also have somewhat permanent spots among my annual top five artists... this year, joined by Deafheaven and Cut Copy (not too surprised by the former, more surprised by the latter)...

my hot take is that his supporters don't really care about any of this stuff... what they are after is social cachet and they think that if you just take away all the people who have it, that it will fall to them by default without any need to work for wisdom or talent...
