Accountant, 3.5 wizard, lover of giant fighting robots. Wanted to run for office, but things didn't work out.
Acts 1 and 2 were great! Very Del Toro. Act 3 was...well...the motivations aren't clear. Frankenstein, being a huge ass that inadvertently gets his family killed, is not quite as vengeance-motivating as the Monster going out of his way to murder your family.

The bears are hoarders. They deny us soft absorbent toilet paper and condemn us to the hell of cheap toilet paper that chafes and rips most unhygienically.

Other than the weak finish, great movie! Oscar Issacs is wonderful, and the monster effects are as hideous as they are compelling.
November 12, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Here we just sort of skip all of that. Instead of Frankenstein chasing the monster for deliberately killing his family, Frankenstein is chasing him...because he's such an ass he accidentally kills his family. So the motivations at the end are a bit muddy and hard to understand.

The first two acts are dramatic and powerful. The third act, Frankstein meeting the monster, is sped up and the monster is much more sympathetic. In the book, he straight-up kills a kid as an act of vengeance. Not a nice guy at all. And Frankenstein tries and deliberately fails to make a bride.

In the book, Frankenstein has nothing to do with the monster. He makes him in a fever pitch of effort (which gets covered very well) and then bales immediately when it wakes up, and he realizes he's done messed up. The lightning thing is pure Hollywood.

"I'm seeing someone, I don't think it will turn into romance...she is intelligent and kind"

"She's a hooker."

Man, can't think why it wouldn't turn into romance, what with that special sex for cash relationship.

Old enough to remember, or think I remember, AG Sessions trying to make sure Comey wasn't alone in a room with Trump.

Interesting. I thought the noise was that Mace was going to flip. That said, it seems like the discharge petition was never real if Republicans voting for it were conditional on it not being able to pass.

Man, even the pedophile is shitting on Trump.

He spent taxpayer dollars on this joke. Looking forward to an FBI team going in with the archivist to recover American property from Mar-a-Lago.

If I bothered to look up the whole hearing, would it show ANY discussion of this provision by the Republicans?
November 12, 2025 at 5:38 PM
Mace is on Facebook screaming that we should leave Trump alone and think about the victims.

Stole the gag from The Martian. But yeah, that's the joke.

Until we do the God Emperor movie, we'll be in the minority in understanding this reference in a children's cartoon show.

Grimm as Duncan Idaho always got a huge LOL from me for being contextually perfect.

The conservative pages making their way into my Facebook feed are separating into the slobbering boot lickers and the toadies. Toadies are like...I LOVE TRUMP but...this is bad idea. Turns out A LOT of Americans have experience with the concept of debt and interest payments.

I'm thinking:
-There is no good reason to invade Venezuela.
-This is a show of force for the sound bites.
-Trump is going to continue killing lone boats that aren't worth a reprisal by Maduro.
-It would be egregiously stupid to launch an attack on the mainland and initiate an unprovoked war.

Thank you, now I've fallen into a wiki hole and have to read about the life and times of Rundstedt.

Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey on the N64 literally made it a part of the game that you could have fist fights with enough high sticking.

Looked up J Edgar Hoover, and while his reputation took a dive after the depths of his activities became known, it's not clear if his public reputation was impacted negatively by his anti-communist\anti-civil rights activities at the tail end of his career.

Water and oil don't mix. Which is why we use soap to get the oil, dirt, and germs off our bodies.

All for a long hot soak (praise be my deep oval tub) but we need to get zest fully clean.

Damning praise for Fetterman.

Remember that one episode where Mr. Roper walks in and misinterprets what he sees out of context?
