Show me a room of conservatives and I’ll show you a crowd of cowards unable to acknowledge their privilege and terrified that merit will one day matter. Beautiful things will outlive human folly. Dogs like me.
Incredible that the Liberal party has declared itself to be the minor partner in the coalition.

The real situation in #auspol and outcome of #binnight is that the #ALP is the establishment government, the #GreensAU are the true opposition in terms of ideology and policy and the #LNP is the crossbench willing to work with the government. Thanks for the brief interlude @davidpocock.bsky.social.

It began in the 1980s when the generation who did not fight in WWII assumed power (or at least the plurality of voters). It saw the end of the post-WWII social contract, the start of neo-liberalism and disdain for learning. Coupled with the rise of Murdoch power pushing all 3.

Straight line to now
The 80th year anniversary of the end of WWII will mostly be noting how long it took for Nazi views to become acceptable in the mainstream again.

Ah crap because I followed some awful accounts with the express intention of holding them to account I’ve ended up on a slew of blocklists and am now getting blocked by people I think I’m likely to be supportive of. Any advice anyone?

Longmire should have been sacked three years ago. He should have been sacked two months ago. He should not have been sacked today or any time in the next 6 months.

I feel for those that hope for this place to stay a space where it feels like everything is okay. I’m pretty sure it’s soon going to become the nexus of academic, journalistic and public thought the world needs and that won’t be anywhere near as cosy. Happy blocking people!
