hi I'm bryn aka canmom! on here I'm likely to talk about animation of all kinds, graphics programming, disturbing novels and occasionally esoteric trans/anarchist shit.

behold: the most recent animation project I did for the Revision demoparty!

I'm gonna be in this on Dec 20, talking about making noodly things with compute shaders and Rust!

hello 4:30am. yeah, I did enjoy that manga about womens' pro wrestling from 1993

started wondering where the 'peasant railgun' 3e D&D meme originated. earliest mention I can find is 2008: forums.giantitp.com/showthread.p... but it's mentioned in passing and clearly predates that. some people attribute it to /tg/. not important but I'm kinda curious!

this is real good. similar kind of parallel reading of OSR and story game blogs as I've spent the last week doing, but definitely more succinct and readable lol

This is a thoughtful, well researched, and extremely readable essay, and you should read it. (No, I don't know who *you* are specifically, random user. Read it anyway. Stop arguing with me.)
sup gang, this week I've ended up on a series of philosophy deep dives about roleplaying games~

basically, grab e.g. Bernard Suits and 'The Elusive Shift' and bang them together to see if Vi Huntsman was right about everything (and how it looked in the 70s)

@yuri-lang.dev hello! i am intrigued by your project for obvious reasons. obviously full support for the GL puns and everything.

on the technical side tho, curious how it will be different from Rust-GPU? will it also compile to SPIR-V?

don't think I've mentioned this on here - a couple weeks back I revived my now eight-year-long, highly erratic effort liveblog of Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, in large part a provocation to go on tangents about all sorts of subjects

I'm now some way into Episode 5, uuu

An attempt to explore a certain sprawling series of dojin soft visual novels, starting with a murder mystery and elaborating over and over into metafiction, occultism, family trauma and epistemology. ...

me every week at the fieldfx jams: yeah I should do something with compute buffers that leads to a lot of noisy pixel-level variation every frame

me every week trying to upload the 1GB video to bluesky: ah--

RGB rendering is founded on lies and perpetuated by misconceptions about the practicality of spectral rendering. My new blog post series describes a spectral GPU path tracer. Part 1 focuses on how to make it work with existing RGB assets.

A few works in progress from the last few days.
Ffirst is my piece for the next series of @hellsculptclub.bsky.social. Theme is Cacophony.

The second is a trickster, shape-shifting, strangling creature made up of a single long gut. Highly mobile and can squeeze through anywhere.

I finished writing the story of going to Revision this year. It ended up some 17,000 words long because I wanted to cover *everything*. And... I did! Eventually!

Retrospective, exposition of the scene, archive... I don't know, but I'd be glad if you read! #demoscene

Tonight's @field-fx.party shader jam... plus a bit of extra time. I want to play around with divergence-free 3D noise but to begin with I made a 2D effect advecting along a 2D slice! Finally starting to get somewhere resembling fluid sim ^_^

Swizzle the ferret now runs through through the world you generate in Shaderland. same pixel-precise automaton under the hood, but much cuter.

Tonight's @field-fx.party shader jam, I am casting rays out against an infinite field of the Game of Life.

Each pixel essentially owns its own game of life cell on a toroidal play area which tiles the plane. A noise texture is added based on the FFT.
