And we are never getting any development on the Capital Point lot either. All entrances to downtown show big empty lots.

What a bunch of elitists! Ridiculous!

The Hills are going to push until they get that whole block.

Thank you for the clarification. It's easy to get lost in the acronyms.

Isn't RDBID the organization that couldn't list any of their success stories at the budget meetings last month?

This is beyond the city's scope. They can set zoning and policy, but this is where the prov needs to step up. The govt was warned when they made changes to SIS that it would impact homelessness.

Has Namerind shown they can actually get any plans off the ground? They seem to be perpetually standing with their hand out for funding.

And yet council still is going to go through with giving him a new ball diamond with a P3 on the yards unless they have a reconsideration vote before the budget which they show zero signs of doing. #yqrcc

It's a looooooong time until the next election. SP will replace him over the summer in 2026 or 2027 and go into the fall session with a new leader. The SCOC hasn't ruled on the pronoun policy so they'll wait for that so Moe can take that stink with him instead of the new leader carrying it. #skpoli

I am still surprised when I pass the brick developments on Broad between College and Broadway. Some of the best infill in the city -- buildings that fit the area, brick for continuity, ground floor retail with residential and a new seniors block coming on the corner. More of this please! #yqrcc

That is the second highest minimum wage in Canada. It varies by province from $15 in Alberta to $17.85 in BC. I get the point the chart is trying to make, but it's deceptive.

Do they realize when they pass these that they are committing to increased spending? At budget time, all these little asks add up. #yqrcc

How about we tax poor land use? If we want development downtown, holding empty lots or surface parking lots and paying minimal tax needs to change.
November 5, 2025 at 11:45 PM
That doesn't mean anything because a lot of people are house poor or live a more frugal life to have less bills. Higher value of property =/= ability to pay.

Because the Car Lobby is far too strong in this city. They own a few of the councilors. Too many decisions made to favour cars over people. #yqyrr

I wish someone would give council a crash course on Induced Traffic. #yqrcc

That fee should apply to all pro events if we are serious about trying to pay off that building.
November 5, 2025 at 7:01 PM
It's shady as hell that only Rider fans are paying the facility fee. They haven't been charging it on concerts or other professional events like the hockey game as Mosaic. I get not charging it on high school games, but the big events should pay it too. Bet FF tickets don't have it! #yqrcc #Mosaic
