New paper ➡️ Ultra-high-field brain scans reveal brain chemistry of severe Covid-19 survivors. The study revealed higher levels of an inflammation marker called myo-inositol in patients who reported poorer mental health after a COVID-19 infection.

Mehtap works on human neurodegenerative diseases, primarily #Alzheimer’s disease, and researches the mechanisms of disease and possible therapeutic avenues of intervention.

#LovePostdocs - Yanyan Zhao is a Post-doc in the Prof. Franklin Aigbirhio group. Her team works on Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging tracers linking chemists and biologists. It involves in-vitro screening of chemical compounds for their binding to protein targets.

#LovePostdocs Emma Wilson is a postdoc working in the the Coleman Lab. Their lab studies a molecular pathway known as Programmed Axon Degeneration or Death (PAD) and has been pushing in recent years to understand the relevance of PAD in human neurodegenerative diseases.

Congratulations to PhD student Natalia Owen for her Stroke Association Postgraduate Fellowship.

She researches #CADASIL, which affects the small blood vessels in the brain and can lead to #stroke. Her goal is to discover early warning signs of the disease and clues for targeted treatments.
