So thankful to have an opportunity to be in conversation with @alexhanna.bsky.social this evening with @ali-alkhatib.com's book club!

I teach big classes, so I get a lot of accommodation letters and I simply follow them and go on with my day because why the hell wouldn‘t I. If I wanted to be a cop, I would have applied.
We need to be able to see that the line "accommodations have gone too far" is an expression of the ableist notion that disabled students do not belong in higher ed. Its fundamentally an anxiety about the fact that disabled students get an "advantage" over abled students.

#ReadPalestine week - Day 1.
A decade since Gaza Unsilenced was published. Edited by Refaat Alareer and Laila El-Haddad.
This is an absolutely essential - and heartbreaking - read. It is also a fierce, damning indictment of those who pretend history started in Octobr 2023.

Omg you all let the police beat the shit out of young Americans for protesting genocide for a whole year straight and now you're publishing and reposting articles on how the youth is not interested in politics because they didn't want to participate in your whitewashed PG shitlib protest???
Fantastic data in here. Was just talking to a neighbor about the age curve at No Kings. Not an easy thing to fix.
The Times piece by @brendannyhan.bsky.social about No Kings made me curious about the political activism of young people over time. So I pulled some CES data and made some charts. www.pbump.net/o/how-severe...

Somebody tell Carney
Fossil fuels are more expensive and far less efficient than renewable sources of energy and doubling down on them raises prices.

Trump’s efforts to revitalize the coal industry is saddling consumers with the costs of swaddling an expensive and dying industry.

This NYT article contains many inaccuracies, starting with confusing "laws" with "policies" or "regulations." The MoU doesn't remove the cap on emissions because there never was a cap on emissions. Albertans' views of the Liberals have not been "reset." Etc.

You could do something helpful to make a difference in this young man’s life and that of his family.
A student admitted to grad school at UNB is stranded in Gaza because the Canadian government won't issue a study permit without biometrics that in turn cannot be produced without a travel visa to leave Gaza.

The Canadian government needs to issue the permit and UNB needs to intervene.
