My understanding is somewhere in the region of the court saying that sex is biological (except when it is assumed from appearance) and gender reassignment is certificated (except you can't ask people for a GRC so medicalisation isn't required)

I can request examination by someone of whatever sex but I have no way of knowing if that person is cis or trans, and their workplace wouldn't get to know that either - it has to be a broad use & doesn't specify same sex anyway
