76-year-old woman with early dementia went missing in the trails near Cumberland, B.C. Search and Rescue volunteers were able to successfully find her with the assistance of “find my phone” feature while searching from police helicopter.

Military search and rescue crews from 19 Wing Comox conducted their first official night rescue using their new Kingfisher fixed-wing aircraft. They assisted an injured hunter in North-east British Columbia after parachuting down to him in total darkness. He was injured after his horse fell on him.

Feeling blessed to be a journalist working around Vancouver Island. Gathered materials today on a sad story….the shooting of a grizzly bear on Texada Island but then saw Humpback Whales and a glorious sunset on the ferry ride home.

Witnesses to an aviation incident in Courtenay, British Columbia assist with an aircraft that had run out of fuel and did an emergency landing. Pilot refuelled but then ran into problems trying to take off again.

Campbell River RCMP recently revealed a 15-year-old overdosed on a mixture of Hydromorphone and cough medicine. The death happened while a large memorial was being held using blue flags to signify how many died by overdoses in Canada.

VIDEO: 1st responders and Search and Rescue volunteers searched for a crashed vehicle along Highway 4 but discovered it was an erroneous iPhone crash detection. Cell owners are asked to properly cancel detections if the warning goes off and they are not in difficulty.
