Don’t fall for the crunchy to alt right pipeline.

The crunchy to alt right pipeline is a real thing. But as a crunchy leftist, I have tips on how to avoid it. #crunchy #leftist #economicrebellion #solarpunk

I caught a little friend as I was taking down the cucumber house, and it was very polite, all things considered. #nature #bird #slowmo

Another key aspect of democratizing food is utilizing different systems of distribution. The CSA model is great for this, but I also run a community market where barter is encouraged. We often have neighbors show up with trunks full of fruit to trade as well. #agsky #leftist #mutualaid

4) Producing food means that it is within my power to provide food for free or for barter wherever possible, strengthening mutual aid networks that wish to separate from capitalist systems altogether. It gives all of us more community, safety, and freedom. #leftist #agsky #mutualaid

3)Networks of smaller, owner-run farms effectively democratize our food systems and prevent massive trans national corporations, like Bayer-Monsanto, from utilizing monopoly and genetic patents to control what we grow and eat and how much we have to pay for it. #agsky #leftist #sustainability

2) There is constant pressure, in Hawaii and elsewhere, to convert prime agricultural land into residential housing, destroying community food security, natural habitats, and increasing car dependence. Utilizing ag land for ag purposes creates resistance to this pressure. #agsky #leftist

1) Over 80% of Hawaiʻi’s food is imported across thousands of miles of ocean. Prior to US occupation Hawaiʻi had fully self-sustained food systems. Growing food locally reduces fossil fuel usage, ocean traffic, and increases quality and shelf life of produce.

Just so it’s clear, I farm for political and ethical reasons.
It’s the most effective way I can put into practice the philosophies of social anarchy and eco-economics. Focus on things you can have the greatest impact on. So how does growing food help specifically? 🔽 #agsky #leftist #mutualaid

At GoFarm Hawaii, we share space with several other agribusinesses incubators and students. Part of being a good neighbor is cleaning the dirt (and the occasional frog) out of the sinks at the pack-house.

Nothing beats the feeling of having all your direct seeded cilantro germinate without any bare patches. 70ft x 3ft of yummy soap leaves. 😍 #agsky #farmer #Hawaii

Vegetable delivery for my ex. He still supports the farm and buys in to the CSA every season, but he doesn’t want to see me so he hangs the basket on the gate. Is it cute or petty? #agsky #farmer #relationships #funny

I think @bsky.app should add farming and agriculture to the interests categories. Help me find my people!!
