But his retirement plans are now in “disarray” and “ruined” cos he’s going to have to find an additional £208.33 per month?

He has £2-4 million in savings/investments but claims he is not “cash-rich” and his house was his only “pension”

Seriously @Telegraph, where do you find these people?🤣🤣🙄

This is how the Mail has covered a 70% fall in net migration.

The Government should stop kidding itself it will ever get credit for being anti-migration. They could cut numbers to zero and there would still be front pages blasting them for making the UK a socialist wasteland no one wants to come to

It's such a bizarre framing. Labour MPs think taking 450k kids out of poverty is putting the country first! That's why they wanted it to happen! It's not because they personally benefit.
Headline on The World at One just now:

"Sir Keir Starmer has denied putting the Labour Party before the country by ending the two-child benefit cap".

Can we please go back to reporting the actual news, not someone's partisan take on it?

I'm both a landlord and a tenant. I won't be passing on the additional 2% tax to my tenants as I don't see why they should pay my tax bill. I doubt my landlord (or many landlords) will see it that way, however.

A Labour budget 😊
Distributional analysis published alongside the Budget shows that the poorest will benefit most from the measures - particularly due to welfare and public service improvements.

So we'll miss the traditional @samfr.bsky.social frustrated 'just publish the document. All else is froth' tweet. Parliament getting in a froth about being told first sounds increasingly self important in an undeserved way.

London is becoming a cycling city.

As we continue to expand London’s cycle network, the number of daily bike trips is soaring. Cycling has risen by more than 40% since 2019 to 1,500,000 trips every day.

We're quite a few years further along with transphobia and already no institution will even defend trans people any more so... rather scary to think where we could soon be with racism if the window shifting continues?

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

On December 6, Regent Street will be closed to motorists.

The festivities will run from 2pm to 9pm.

This will involve the street being fully pedestrianised from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus.

Oh no. This guidance is appalling. Written by someone who has never been in a primary school.
This has been my worry all along with the breakfast club nonsense. You can talk about funding all you like, the long and the short of it is that school leaders end up with another job on the list, another extension to their working day, and the job becomes ever harder...
And this is from DfE advice!

Apparently Tesco trusts their customers to know that a plastic Tree in a display box labelled MERRY CHRISTMAS is indeed a Christmas Tree!

The Telegraph, Express, GB News and Daily Mail do not believe their readers are capable of that!

And given the comments sections, they’re not wrong🫣

The "loophole" is that once somebody who was recognised as a refugee had a child born here then, ten years later, once that child was a citizen, we would not deport the parent (after their legal status had been renewed 3-4 times over say 12 years here)
