Logo for a PDX doom/sludge metal band.

The concept: show heaviness, use the stylistic iconography of the subgenre, and incorporate medieval weaponry.

A half-dozen genre stretching ideas were refined into a beautifully brutal result.

Heavy metal logo, white on a black background. Spiked, angry organic letter forms on the edge of readability surround a central medieval axe (chipped and broken) in a not quite symmetrical organization. The words read “Viral Tyrant” Same as the first image, but black logo on a white background. The Viral Tyrant logo used on a gig poster. They are opening for Glasghote here in Portland on April 10, at the Lollipop Club. See you there!

Fresh #rebrand for a #Portland artisan boutique. Think stained glass, hand-crafted typography, and a subtly sophisticated Rose-City-inspired colorway.

It’s a simple and lovely design that the owner and her small but mighty team have fallen in love with.
