Among many other wonderful birthday presents, my wife got me a t-shirt with the character art Kyle Ferrin did of my #over/under character!

Looking forward to using this to baffle strangers.

God I loved Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog as a kid. a couple of years ago I checked on YouTube to see whether it still held up and My Word it did *not* hold up.
Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog Pasta (1998-1999): Canned pasta in a tomato/cheese sauce from Franco-American, shaped like weapons, a castle, and a dragon from the short-lived Fox Kids action-fantasy series from Saban, which was set in ancient Ireland

You Dreamed of Empires by Alvaro Enrigue is the good stuff. If you like Calvino/Eco/Borges, labyrinths, Aztecs, moody psychedelia, spooky violence etc then you will have an excellent time.

This year at the rsc: Macbeth in a 1970s pub is better than Hamlet on the Titanic, because it was a symbolic 1970s pub but an extremely literal titanic.

(Having said that, the guy playing Hanlet was much better than the guy playing Macbeth, so swings and roundabouts)

Congratulations to my wife for performing adequately at Mario Kart on the secret extra-hard difficulty (playing while our toddler swings the camera around and mashes the controller at random)

Reading a (terrible) scientific paper, and I feel that any author should stop and have a good think about what they've done before writing "This project operates in an inherently ambiguous ethical space"

The toddler is enjoying counting things. “One Two Three Seven Eight Nine!” she will say. And she will get *extremely* cross if you refer to the existence of four, five, or six.

Here's my ludicrously long blogpost about #over/under, and what it's like to run an imaginary bookshop in space. open.substack.com/pub/calumnm/...

Stayed up until 2.30am for the grand finale of the improbable good vs evil bookshop rivalry. It’s not gone well for my guy. #over/under

I may have slightly misunderstood the vibe at the Blenheim Palace Halloween trail. Prob wouldn’t have brought the toddler if I knew it was going to be this intense!

The #over/under fever has been possessing me, it will only break once I’ve mapped the entire station I think, or I explode…anyways heres my latest batch of pieces. 🫡

I know most people I know on here will be baffled by my continued posts about thousand-player ttrpg/wargame #over/under , but I’ve been commissioning real art with pretend money and it’s amazing.

Too early to tell, but I reckon Electric Nebraska is better than normal Nebraska.

Bizarre thousand player discord rpg #over/under has been consuming my time recently, and I’ve been trying to work out the weird texture of it. Because, theoretically, this is set on a cyberpunk space station in an SF/horror universe.

This game is insane. iver a thousand players. I’m running a bookshop on a space station. I’m an android. People are buying imaginary books off me with imaginary money so I can pay my imaginary rent. The bookshop is starting to get known in the android rights movement. It’s only been a day.
on Tuesday, October 14th, as a part of Mothership Month 25, I'm going to launch another real-time play-by-post wargame, open to the public, called OVER/UNDER. the server will open to players on Monday the 13th, but in the meantime you can read about it here: samsorensen.blot.im/mothership-m...

The glib, reflexive, internetty dismissal of Byron (all that “ooh he was so annoying that Mary Shelley invented the horror genre” stuff) is a sign of cultural rot
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

One of many reasons that “If I Should Fall From Grace With God” is great is that playing it in full gives you permission to listen to Fairytale of New York in October.

Had a dream the other night where I went on holiday for a second year running to the midsommar cult, because they promised me they “wouldn‘t try that stuff again“.
