Good to catch up with Kiera Maguire yesterday in the Pawson's (and of course Kevin Day, even if he did insult my attire). As ever, the only Weed in the pub, Kieran was in undercover mode,as undercover as someone 6'3" can be...

After a perfectly observed Remembrance Sunday ceremony, a forgettable 0-0 against the old foe, with neither side deserving to win. Biggest entertainment was a Weed penalty being overturned by VAR.
Canvot stood in for Matc really well, and Tyrick was superb despite being crocked.

National League South; Maidstone United 3 Chippenham Town 0; attendance 1880. Not at the races. An impeccable Remembrance ceremony with a very good bugler is about the only positive I can take out of this.

2025 season Celebration Evening with T20 Blast win to celebrate for the women's team, but nothing much to celebrate for the men's team - 2nd in the County Championship won't do nowadays. However, a pleasant evening, in good company, and good value.

European Conference League Group stage; CPFC 3 AZ Alkmaar 1 (HT 2-0); attendance about 21,500.
Easy win in the end, VAR used in the penalty (missed) & first two goals.
Good turnout from the fans of De Kaasboeren (the Cheese Farmers), sang right to the end.
An enjoyable evening

The Cricket Society Autumn Awards Lunch. Lovely event as ever, Alec Stewart on fine form as Guest of Honour. On our table were Wallasey CC Evertonians Dad (Rich) & lad (Oliver), leg-spinner Oliver having won Outstanding U16 Schoolboy award - smashing people.
November 7, 2025 at 12:05 PM
NL; Sutton United 2 Eastleigh 1; att 1759. The U's were at the bottom of the league, but got a much-needed win & moved off that dreaded position. Having played well first half & being in control, they certainly made it nervy at the end!
Onwards and upwards.

NLS; @chippenhamtown.com 2 Salisbury 2 (HT 1-2); attendance 616. Wet conditions, real relegation 6-pointer in early November! Had this down as 'win or bust' but it felt a bit different having fought back from 2 down. Much better 2nd half. Believe.

Pleased to get to Chippenham and find this on my doormat from those nice people at Deserter. Sarf London is still with me. Looking forward to reading it.

At @thelexingtonlondon.bsky.social last night to see @fruitbatusm.bsky.social !with Abdoujaparov. What a fun gig it was, with great support from @headsticks.bsky.social from Stoke. A superb venue, a lovely crowd. Les & the boys gave us a 'cover' of 'Let's Get Tattoos' as one of the encores 😊

White rabbits all. One month of the non-cricket season has gone, but we're one month nearer the C word. May your month be a good one full of metaphorical fireworks (but only good ones).
Hoping for 6 Palace wins inc the jolly to Strasbourg (can't wait).

I was always going to have to see the film, but I didn't have huge expectations, and they were largely met. It's not really a film about an album it's a film about depression and childhood trauma. But it certainly explains why 'Nebraska' is so bleak and depressing. Well acted.

Very well organised & on time photoshoot with the two trophies. Yes, I had had the ones with the FA Cup in August, but the gap in my teeth hadn't been sorted then. I also didn't have the tattoo then. The photographer had to check it was aligned with corporate values first 😁

NLS; Torquay Utd 3 Chippenham Town 0 (HT 2-0); attendance 2854 (26 away plus directors). A defeat to be expected against a team that rarely fails at home and are now 3rd in the league, but for the last 25 minutes or so, at 3-0 down, we were the better side. How to use that knowledge to advance?...
October 21, 2025 at 10:43 PM
NLS; Chippenham Town 1 Dover Athletic 1 (HT 1-0); attendance 637.
Disappointing to fail to win, should have sealed it by half time, having had several good chances. As so often, ended up regretting it. But, though we're now bottom, I saw a lot of positives. We just HAVE to get those Ws going...

Small Hotel, the last of the Ralph Fiennes season at the Theatre Royal.
Excellently acted, beautifully staged, play rather strange. Not the best I've ever seen, but glad I went, for the acting.

Another excellent Paul Talling (Derelict London) walk: Hackney Brook (pt 1). From Holloway Road to Hackney Central. Joe Meek, Marc Bolan, Amy Winehouse, Pulp all featured, also Reggie Kray but not Minder.
The usual excellent company particularly enjoyed in The Crown in Hackney post-walk.

Yesterday.
NLS; @chippenhamtown.com
0 Hemel Hempstead T 1 (HT 0-0); att 605.
Windy. Very windy.
Didn't take our chances with the wind behind us first half, nor the one into the wind second half. Conceded inevitable goal from a wind-assisted corner.
Annoying. Frustrating. Very worrying.

'We're all going on a European tour' - #Lublin:
3: Stadium & match
Rather easy 2-0 win. c. 3000 #cpfc fans in 6839 crowd. Great atmosphere created by us. Fines coming for 'Fuck UEFA' and 'Russian drones'. Funniest moment - 'Positive Emotions' 😁

'We're all going on a European tour' - #Lublin:
2: The atmosphere pre & post match.
Fab. Around 3k #cpfc fans descending on a small city. With happiness & singing & no trouble at all, despite plenty of drinking! Flags everywhere, old school faces of the 70s & 80s everywhere

'We're all going on a European tour' Lublin - the city itself.
Beautiful. I had barely been aware of it before knowing that #cpfc would have to play Dinamo Kyiv here. An unspoiled walled Old Town, little touched by WWII, though by heck some incredibly bad things happened here.

Good morning from Eastern Poland. Going to get noisy today as the other half of our fans arrive, from Warsaw, Krakow, UK etc. Our flag got nicked last night by black-clad locals...
But great to see so many old faces all day and last night.
