Hi, I’m Callum 👋 I’m a solo dev learning how to make games from scratch. I’ll be exploring code, art, music, and design to see if games really are the right medium to bring my stories to the world. Follow along for lots of fun experiments, quirky ideas, and a load of learning.
Continuing work on my dash thruster mechanic. Deciding between a slow burn that recovers over time, or a quick burst on a short cooldown. Here is me playing around with the quick burst implementation, with placeholder cooldown UI.

Took a bit of a break, but back into it now. Added basic enemies this morning with simple path follow mechanic. Next up is handling collision with the player.

It’s all starting to come together. Continuing to refine my sprite design and animations. As well as begining to finish off and piece together movement mechanics. Very happy with the the way the thrust boosters are coming along.

Playing around with some designs for the player character in Salvage Station today. Starting to love the simplicity of the 8x8 pixel style. What are your thoughts?

Just launched my second game, Shattered Flow for the Xogot Game Jam 2. You are a fragile droplet of liquid glass adrift in a world of danger, how long can you survive? Check out all of the other awesome entries too!

Continuing to prototype Salvage Station ⚙️ Today I worked on the fuel cell collectible + exit door mechanics. Using placeholder assets again while I decide whether to create my own art or stick with a pre-made sprite pack.

Finalised my player character design and added basic walking animations 🚶‍♂️ Also started building and testing the pickup mechanic for the fuel cell collectibles.

Decided to try making my own art for Salvage Station 🎨 Visual art is my weakest skill, so I’m using this as practice. Made a fuel cell collectible in both pixel and hand drawn styles… safe to say my drawing skills still need work 😂

First steps on Salvage Station! Started testing basic player movement tonight 🏃 I’ve purchased a sprite pack for art this time round so I can focus more time on refining my programming and game design skills. Pumped to keep building and share updates!

Time to start my next project: Salvage Station 🚀 A 2D adventure where you explore a derelict space station, collect valuable fuel cells, and survive its hazards. Built in Godot. Follow along as I share my progress!

Just finished my very first game! 🎉 Orb Collector is a tiny 2D project I made while learning Godot. It’s simple, but finishing it marks a huge milestone in my gamedev journey. This is only the beginning, more to come soon!
