I rather hate the new GOVUK rebrand, but then I am a miserable fart... @beeps.gay's blog post linked in the comments does actually shed some good light on the *why* though – helped to change my perspective a bit 🙂 beeps.website/blog/2025-06...

I hate this! Absolutely not a substitute for a well written commit message that details the change and reason. It's completely useless to anyone that doesn't have access to that ticketing system, or doesn't even know what #12345 means...
