Neither green nor particularly leafy. UK. She/her.
Truly, though our element is time,
We are not suited to the long perspectives
Open at each instant of our lives.
They link us to our losses: worse,
They show us what we have as it once was,
Blindingly undiminished, just as though
By acting differently we could have kept it so.

(Philip Larkin)

@hannahswiv.bsky.social I have a stupid question! I am meeting a vicar next week about some volunteer work I am doing. So far, I've only spoken to her on e-mail, and I took a cue from her signing off with just her first name and have been using that. >>

I have just had one of those car journeys that felt like a circle of hell, even though all I tried to do was go to the supermarket and back. 🫠

Bear is, as he ought to be, the highlight of my posts. :D

Just forced to listen to my (appalling) neighbour scream at her ex on the doorstep and thinking about how much therapy speak brainrot has infiltrated some people's lives. She hit "you're a narcissist" and "gas-lighting" a dozen times. Also her parting shot was "...AND YOUR HAIR LOOKS STUPID TOO!"

Because I'm still struggling health-wise, I had to put a pause on getting even a part-time job, and I ended up going to talk to someone about volunteering. I went today to do a shadowing session at the place I was invited to volunteer, and... people, I am not fit for human company, I am really not.

May the universe produce nothing but good things for the little old guy on YT who filmed a 9 minute video of him fixing the exact fault on my obsolete model of dishwasher that I am experiencing.

I don't know what yesterday was, but I had a pretty intense fever for 24 hours, and then was fine. So that's dumb. On the plus side, I was able to go have lunch with my parents for my b'day before they head off to go visit my brother and his family tomorrow. 😊

There is some kind of horrible symmetry about spending the last day of my 40s sick in bed (some kind of minor bug probably) having spent the whole of my 40s sick. :|

The new Cat Sebastian book is really good, even though it's a period of history/place that I know nothing about (1960s America).

I made a more fancy than usual dessert this week for #sundaybaking : raspberry lemon baked cheesecake

But WHY is my Uncle Dramallama such a nightmare? (The clue is in the nickname, of course.)

Me: [showing someone I am trying to be very professional with something on my phone]

An app on my phone, out of nowhere: 💩 CONCERNED ABOUT CONSTIPATION? 💩

My Uncle Dramallama is in town. He is exhausting. We are all exhausted. I have never met anyone so committed to being the worst he can be.

Last night I dreamt that I had inherited a Ouija board haunted by the spirit of an orange cat whose sole purpose in life was to knock things on the floor.

I defy a dream analyst to come up with a hidden meaning for THAT.

I look like my mum to the point where photos of us at the same age look like the same person in different clothes.
Do you look more like your mom or your dad? Or a grandparent? Or another relative?

I just watched Kpop Demon Hunters and (a) it was delightful, and (b) I would really like a big, creepy, slightly stupid tiger thing of my own.

I'm a big re-reader but I am desperate for something new to read today. I feel like I've read everything I love about 40 times already. *shakes the internet until something new falls out*

It's Aldi's pre-Christmas wooden toy sale and apparently this means encoutntering two fathers having a literal physical confrontation in the aisle of the supermarket over who gets a toy.

Post-vaccine: This year the side effects hit FAST. I had my shots at 11am and was running a fever by 5pm and couldn't raise my arm at all. By bedtime I was feeling REALLY bad. However, I am about 80% better today and my fever broke while I was asleep. Not a great reaction but better than flu/covid.

The new @kjcharleswriter.com book was A++++, highly recommend.

Vaccinations ✅
Regretting having flu & covid at the same time in the same arm ✅
Interrogated by some random old codger why I "deserved" a Covid jab since so few younger people are eligible this year ✅

Luckily the pharmacist knows me by name and came out to >:( at the old guy for bothering me.

I've never seen Reservoir Dogs. I feel like everyone my age lost their minds over the Sopranos and later on, Breaking Bad, and I've never seen an episode of either.
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Me, singing: 🎵 No matter how we breathe, we still are made of bees 🎶

Also me: ... those probably aren't the actual lyrics.
