While this is small potatoes in the grand scheme of our authoritarian takeover, it undermines consumer confidence in EV’s when manufacturers shirk their responsibilities in this way. We’re moving in reverse here on an important part of the solution to the climate crisis.

@blumenthal.senate.gov sent an open letter to GM about this in early 2024. I’d love to see more attention paid to this gross violation of consumer protection. Tagging my senators @wyden.senate.gov and @jeff-merkley.bsky.social.

…offer, but that department is also backlogged with requests. The picture was taken when my husband went to retrieve some of our belongings today. To add insult to injury, the dealership didn’t even know we’d requested a buyback offer! Will never buy a GM car ever again.

It’s valuable to know that’s the perception, but the responsible thing to do would be to include a note that it was, in fact, peaceful.

I so relate to this. As a progressive from a rural area, I’ve been lectured by more contrarian friends about my failure to understand or empathize with the grievances of rural conservatives. I’m like, “nope—I know those people very well.”

Glad you’re taking sabbatical! Good for you setting boundaries to ensure you’re able to focus on your priorities, and it’s okay to periodically say “yes” to things that you’d committed to say no to—we’re never going to get it right 100% of the time, and that’s okay.

I’m happy to report that during my Juneteenth holiday, I spent time shopping at local businesses that were open and seeing lots of foot traffic! Nobody is forcing business to close or workers to stay home, but workers like me do get the day off are likely to spend more money, not less.

This is not just about optics. It’s about protecting and advocating for constituents and their families, many who are being unjustly arrested and held without due process. We’re seeing again and again that public scrutiny and pressure make a difference in these cases, sometimes leading to releases.

That picture can’t be real, can it? 🤨

My husband’s new union contract includes up to $200 reimbursement for life flight insurance. This made me *so* happy!

I comfort myself with a similar thought often.
