Today, the South Carolina State Board of Education voted to ban four books from all state schools, despite passionate testimony and a packed room of people defending the books. The four books were Flamer, All Boys Aren’t Blue, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Push.

MS: I've noticed that all the way through this conversation David, you've referred to him in the present tense. DL: You have to keep Angelo alive. I believe life is a continuum, and that no one really dies, they just drop their physical body and we'll all meet again, like the song says. It's sad but it's not devastating if you think like that. Otherwise I don't see how anybody could ever, once they see someone die, that they'd just disappear forever and that's what we're all bound to do. I'm sorry but it just doesn't make any sense, it's a continuum, and we're all going to be fine at the end of the story.

Surprise! You didn’t think I’d have just the one book coming out in 2025, did you? Disney asked me to write a follow-up to TANGLED—a horrible decision, really—and as I dearly love that movie, how could I say no?

(It may have also given me the chance to put “Give that horse a sword” in a book.)

After nearly five years as a writer, I just typed 'the end' for the first time. A draft of my adult queer historical fantasy exists! Now for the fun work — the revising & rewriting. But first... to celebrate with Thanksgiving food, a good book, and a few days off!
