Joachim Trier Summer?

The feeling when summer is for everyone but you…and everything is just reminder that it’s going to end soon.

“They’ll drain the pool tomorrow.”

NYC pals: Get yourself a ticket to Rebecca Frecknall’s STREETCAR at BAM — forget Paul Mescal, go for the great Patsy Ferran!!

On until April 6.

(I’d be there if I lived there. I’ve not seen it but would follow Ferran anywhere.)

Not only was Soderbergh savvy enough to put Tom Burke in his new movie, but he also told David Fincher to put Burke in HIS movie years ago.

Do you enjoy movies more when you get to discuss them?

Does talking about art help you clarify your responses to it?

Have you ever changed your mind about a film after seeing what someone else sees in it?

Do you want to understand how and why films make you feel?

You learned how to analyze novels in school, which has enriched your reading experience...

But how do you deepen your appreciation of film — without going back to school, reading dry academic texts, or learning to be a director?

Have you struggled to find excellent new international films?

Are you tired of endlessly scrolling through streaming services for something promising to watch besides classics?

Harry Lloyd is one of those British character actors that you’re always delighted to see rock up in shows (though few have used him as well as MANHATTAN did!)

He does a nice bit of creepy scenery-chewing in a few memorable scenes of PRIME TARGET, and I’m here for it.

Made a loosely ranked list of all 16 Hamlets I currently remember seeing. (There might be more.)

Recorded theatre is such a blessing.

Stubbornly voting for my faves and thus effectively spoiling my ballot because at least one of these movies was seen by almost no one.

More than half my male lead ballot consists of people campaigning for category fraud in supporting actor, which makes for a lot of pasty white boys.

If you’ve been enjoying SAY NOTHING, may I suggest checking out Hazel Doupe in FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY?

Not enough people saw it for it to really be a breakout role, but it’s her first lead and even as a teenager, it was clear she was special.
