When someone asks about the plight of working people in 2025 and your answer is is "how dare you ask that, I had to share a bathroom with my parents and brother and get a sports scholarship!" the first thing that comes to my mind is: That was more than half a century ago.

Harrell is a tremendously wealthy 67-year-old man who has been rich for decades. His family was working-class when he was a kid. His dad retired as a top executive at City Light. Whenever he talks about his upbringing, though, he describes a life of abject poverty so bad you wouldn't even believe.

And as two parents of toddlers, I know we both understand firsthand the urgent need to fix our child care affordability crisis. Together, we can deliver a new era of collaboration that puts families and working people first.

I called Mayor-elect Wilson to extend my congratulations. It’s been a very long time since King County and Seattle have both elected new leaders at the same time. That means we have an opportunity for a true reset, to try new strategies and form new partnerships to tackle our region’s challenges.

The City of Seattle is willing to talk about reducing the width of Rainier between Massachusetts and Dearborn where it's SIX lanes adjacent to lots of new apartment construction and small businesses. We can't have WSDOT saying it can't be done because congestion. Congestion is a good thing.

Harrell showed his best face for most of the presser. His speech was funny, he joked about kicking off his acting career, and was gracious about his loss. Then a KIRO 7 reporter asked him if he might have failed to understand how much people were struggling with affordability in the city.

Woah, what the hell was that? Bruce just said that there are people telling him not to concede because there were "anomalies." That's a wild and irresponsible thing to say.
