White Brit here and I grew up with some non-related aunties and uncles. Basically my parents' good friends that were Effectively Family by strength of relationship rather than family tree.

That definitely tracks for me. If YP had crystallised in to something specific more quickly, it would probably have picked up my support.

But it has spent a long time being a vague amorphous blob - and during that time Zack has seized the opportunity to really energise the Greens.

As a reader: If I have a favourite author, them blurbing a book is something I read as "my parasocial kinda-friend likes this book".

But also the opposite - if I love a book, authors who are blurb-cited on it can come on to my radar as being "authors I might also like", in a broad sense.
