I think it's absurd to pass judgement (e.g. asset flip) on a game we've seen minutes of so far.

The GKC thing sucks and absolutely falls into the external context of what you're willing to put up with as a player. It certainly doesn't have any inherent correlation to game quality, though.

Then, in The Tombs of Atuan, you have a character taking actionable steps to separate herself from her predetermined, defined gender role.

That story was considered un-feminist by her peers, but she argued that you can't have progress without all genders cooperating. A direct carry-on from LHoD.

It's interesting reading across Le Guin's work and seeing her thoughts on gender develop.

The Left Hand of Darkness explores a lot about choice and determination in assigned roles - in how the Gethenian people fill the roles required of them at a given time, instead of assigned ones.

I was so focused on being angsty about art I didn't notice 😂

Existential risk to craft is not just about losing jobs, but about pressures to be "more productive or else" from people who don't understand or value quality in your craft.

are you interested in HOW people talk about games?

I have a podcast that is ALL OVER topics exactly like this one. I think if people listened to it they wouldn't make such embarrassing mistakes!!

Critical Error
Jake Steinberg and Peter Hunt Szpytek talk about the things that they cannot possibly ignore.

I'm glad you're excited! New camera gear (whatever it is) is always so exciting 😊😊 and that's totally fair - I've not experimented with video almost at all so I don't really know if mine is good for it in comparison to other cameras 😅

My xt30ii was an upgrade from an old Nikon D3100 because I wanted something portable and powerful enough for people and birds that wouldn't kill me financially.

Those Sony a7's are gorgeous cameras too - I was in a camera store the other day being shown one!

You're welcome! And oh yeah, emails are a nightmare, and it's so demoralising sometimes not getting a thing you feel right for!! 😅

That's so kind of you, thank you!! So I shoot Fujifilm - I'm not a particularly good editor, so I like having the ability to get those colours straight out of camera!

I think I got quite lucky with how willing to take a chance this pr woman was, though! I get more silence than I do responses to my emails!!

I think most PR expect you to be part of a publication, but local bands just want publicity, so DMing them on insta is also a valid approach apparently

Thank you!! And absolutely - I just started emailing people (finding venues, looking up artist PR who are performing and sending an email). I also started going to a local open mic and asking people if I could photograph them for practice.

Those photos are then up on my instagram/website portfolio.

It's hard not to feel under qualified - like with pitching written work - but I'm here now and know how to take a photo, so what more could I need? 😅

I never got round to checking out Rise of the Ronin, unfortunately!

The story-design harmony I think was my ongoing issue with Yotei (though we've spoken about that before!).

Do you think it's quite likely we'll get a third? Seems to be doing well, and people liked Yotei - hard to know, I guess
