I had the misfortune of the first Ethel Cain song I ever heard being Ptolemaea and being immediately obsessed with it, so now everything else I hear by her just sounds like standard sadgirl music I feel nothing about. is any of her other stuff going to curdle my blood or was that track just a fluke

Cool, Labour ministers talking like abusers is it?
This is political blackmail dressed up as pragmatism. Justifying their nasty policies with “Reform will be worse”.

Louisiana’s Medicaid program stopped covering trans care. So Trans Income Project stepped in to become the defacto “payer” for that care at one key clinic in the state. Today we hear how and why the project came to be:
In our latest, we speak with the director of Trans Income Project about their work providing material support to trans people in Louisiana and how they’re trying to fill the gaps created by the federal government’s attacks on trans coverage under Medicaid

sexual violence is THE patriarchal technology of oppression. wherever there is any kind of oppression--colonialism, genocide, capitalism, the state, the police--there is sexual violence as its frontline operative mechanism. the child is THE archetypal object of legitimate disciplinary violence.

The BBC, quite consciously, sets out to demean and belittle trans people. This is both morally contemptible and in breach of its Charter obligations. We've made it super easy for you to write to the BBC and tell it to stop.

The BBC must stop attacking trans people | Good Law Project
The right wing accusations of ‘pro-trans’ bias are back to front. It’s time for the BBC to live up to its duty to be impartial on trans issues.

I still love making collages but I find it so weirdly mentally tiring since I got le old covid durée. I guess it's just making thousands of tiny little decisions but dang do I feel it afterwards

Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

Replies and quotes on this are funny as fuck though. Anarchists wondering exactly what they should abolish Vs liberals wanting tougher sentences for littering lol.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

The modern conservative panic is fueled by juvenile tantrums, of people clinging to hierarchies until their fingernails are bloody because they're too contemptuous towards undesirables and offal acquiring even a shred of humanity and dignity.

But it's inevitable, and the clock will not turn back.

We are a social species, and we have always prevailed through cooperation. Caring for our sick. Raising children we didn't sire or birth because they were part of our village or extended family. We are not breeders and predators, we are communicators and survivors. We evolved to UNITE.

and another thing: im not mad. please dont put in the newspaper that i got mad.
So Wes Streeting allies want him to become Prime Minister - for the Labour Government to tank even faster.

We don't have time to play these silly games - people are suffering now.

Keep growing the alternative - they need replacing.

we've found Nessie's tomb
There’s a patch in the dry goods aisle of the supermarket where the roof leaks and floor never seems dry - an inverse of a patch of road near where I grew up which was said to never get wet, even in the foulest weathers, because a witch was buried there.

This morning they’ve cordoned off the aisle.

I do not understand how anyone goes through life without this reality just completely poleaxing them from time to time. I mentioned it to my brother once and he was "fuck Beth, that's grim, you need to go outside" and it's just like "this is outside too!!!" How the fuck do you turn aside???
Following on what @miawong.bsky.social and @riotlinguist.bsky.social and others have said, it's worth repeating that the majority of rape is committed against kids and teenagers (<20yo) obviously mainly girls + mostly by adult/teen cis men. Rape culture is inherently CSA culture!

so there are now some incredibly interesting questions to be asked about email correspondence with lawyers…
their AI has never been helpful, it never will be helpful, and regardless or whether it ever would be or not this is no justification for the wholesale theft of anything users have ever written or saved
Google has now admitted that they will tap into users' personal data within Gmail and Drive in order for their upcoming AI search to "be more helpful".

For years, Google has advertised their services as "encrypted" and "secure", which begs the question: are they really?
