Really, I can say the exact same thing for any time that I have a week off of work. I barely make it to the end of the school term, then I end up crashing out.

Oh well, rinse and repeat!
Watching the Olympics. I can't believe that it's the penultimate day already. Where did the days go?

I swear I'll be much more productive next week!

If you are a White House pool reporter and you don’t stick up for your fellow colleagues after Trump calls them “Piggy” or “Stupid” you are tacitly condoning his behavior and just as culpable at Trump.

Shame on you.

Walk out.
Speak up.
Don’t give him an audience.
Courage is contagious.

He’s going to fight drug trafficking by pardoning them?

Trump announced “a Full and Complete Pardon” for former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernández, who was found guilty by an American jury last year of conspiring to import cocaine into the US.

I'm not a historian but I am a political scientist and in my professional opinion saying Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history is less controversial than saying 2+2=4 or Victor Wembanyama is tall.

LESS controversial.
Does the BBC think it's improper for a speaker to state their opinion that Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history?

Because I think almost all historians would readily agree that Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history.
BBC censors a lecture removing author’s remarks on Trump that refer to him a the most openly corrupt American president.

George W Bush’s administration found lawyers to justify torturing prisoners

Now Trump found lawyers to justify murdering fisherman they say are smuggling drugs

This is why Mark Kelly and his colleagues made the video telling troops to follow only legal orders

And why Trump threatened to kill them

Reminder: It benefits nobody in a way to list sex assigned at birth on passports, there is no requirement to include it, this is just about punishing trans etc. Americans.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court will allow the Trump administration to enforce its anti-trans and anti-nonbinary passport policy during litigation.

The unsigned, four-paragraph order effectively reverses two lower-court decisions. The Democratic appointees dissent.

virtue signalling is good actually
Performative decency is actually *so* important for this reason.

It tricks the 10% of ghouls into thinking that there are only 1% of ghouls.

And it makes the 30% of people that don't care one way or another follow the mostly decent crowd

It’s really important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of ACTUAL EVIDENCE that they’re better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.

If we added more people, the transit costs relative to car costs start to go up, but with the weekend GO rates it would still be cheaper up to adding 3-4 adult fares.

Overall, optimizing for both time and money, we'll be choosing GO train plus taxi. Even if the train cost more than driving I would probably still take it in this case, since it will be a much more pleasant experience and I can do crafts and play games and chat with my son on the way.

GO train plus bus will be about 2:20-2:30, depending on how fine we want to cut it and if things run on time. GO train plus taxi will be 2 hours. The train times are much more stable than driving times, regardless.

Driving times from Toronto to Hamilton are extremely variable. It could take 1:15 with no traffic, or 2:30 with traffic. Google says a typical drive will be 1:50.

We have a clear winner: GO train plus bus is the absolute cheapest at $16, and even the luxury of a taxi will still be half the price of the cheapest car trip possible ($30 vs $52). Now let's check the travel times.

The GO train between my home station and Hamilton would cost about $30 for a round trip on a weekday, but it's the weekend and I can get a $10 day pass, and kids ride free. So that's $10 for the train, plus either $6 round trip for the bus or $20 round trip for a taxi.

We don't own a car, but the best gas passenger car is a Mitsubishi Mirage (my dad's car, which he adores). We drive less than 10,000 km/year, but this estimate is for 10k-15k km/year, so my trip today could cost from $52-$78 for the cheapest owned gas car.
