If you're looking for a perfectly smooth surface, you could try wooden or metal panels. There are also special canvases for hyperrealism (though I haven’t personally worked with them)

It's better to choose a fine-grain linen canvas with long fibers (sometimes called Belgian canvas) – this type will be noticeably smoother
