Women’s adventure travel, active aging, exploring our inner and outer worlds, road tripping, tree hugging, rock collecting, hiking, painting, thrifting, equality, science, dogs, soup, balancing a belief in the good of humanity with some healthy skepticism.
I really don’t walk slow.
I just stop to take a lot of pictures.

3 miles on this (chilly) glorious spring morning. I’m so thankful for all the beautiful natural spaces around me like 98 acre Mount Hope Cemetery right in the middle of the city.

Having SUCH a great time in Costa Rica! And gorgeous weather!!
March 6, 2025 at 1:29 AM
Costaaaaa Ricaaaaa, I’m back! Oh how I’ve missed the laidback indoor/outdoor barefoot life, incredible fresh fruits (varieties that are not sturdy enough to survive shipping to the US), houseplants 8’ tall, soft gentle breezes, and complete lack of ice hockey parking lots and bone chilling temps! 😍

Magical Kirkjufell ("Church Mountain") is a 463 m high hill on the north coast of Iceland's Snæfellsnes peninsula.
It’s claimed to be the most photographed mountain in the country and was one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones season 6 and 7.
It was so cold!
It was so worth it!

Iceland in the winter was incredible! I probably took 300 photos and videos. 😆

Tomorrow’s agenda:
• hit the gym
• let folks know about the Galapagos trip!
• post about my TWO upcoming Peru trips, both special for different reasons 😍
• begin painting this magical Iceland landscape, Kirkjufell!

It’s better to teach people than to scare them. If you scare them and nothing happens, they lose their fear, and you lose some of your authority with them. It’s harder to scare them the second time, harder to teach them, harder to win back their trust. Best to begin by teaching.

Every human is our own - every hungry child, grieving mother, frightened husband, and weary grandmother. We can’t pretend that it’s not our world that creates wars, bombs, and hunger. We all walk the shifting tightrope of life, and can fall at any time. All there is to catch us is each other.

Do not play this game, 2248 Number Puzzle Game! You cannot win! You can have many little successes which keep you engaged. You can run out of options and lose. But so long as you don’t lose, the game continues infinitely.
Don’t even ask me how long I hyper-focused on it, trying to win! 🙄

When people tell us to “move on” what they’re really telling us is either …
If what we’re saying is right, that’s scary AF and they just don’t want to think about it. Also they don’t want to be wrong.
or
They are in a place of privilege and their lives will continue fairly unchanged so no big deal.

💙📚 1/2 Octavia E Butler’s dystopian 1993 novel, Parable of the Sower starts in 2024 when joblessness, homelessness, and climate-related weather catastrophes are at all time highs. Crime and gangs are rampant, police and politicians are corrupt. The Nov 2024 presidential election sees a Mr Donner …

Happiness has never been a personal goal. I've sought truth and enlightenment since age 13, advancing thru layers of hell, somehow managing to walk out the other side.
Now from a distance, I see those experiences as opportunities to release unhealthy expectations, which oddly has led to happiness.

💙📚 Let’s add Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower to my list of current reads.

• We by Yevgeny Zamyatin
• We Can Live Like This by Lisa Vogel
• The Mountain is You by Brianna Weist
• Women Rowing North by Mary Pipher

Yes. Yes, I do need to finish up a few of these before starting something new.
