Flight Risk is a follow up to Cherie Priest's Grave Reservations, a fun murder mystery starring a psychic travel agent. 3.5/5. Dead North is an anthology of zombie stories by Canadians. These were wonderfully curated and I especially enjoyed the ones that were grounded in indigenous stories. 4/5.

A friend told me about a Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking: a young woman whose wizard ability is working with baked goods. It's a bit darker than the premise suggests, themes of power, corruption & bigotry/fear that are a bit too on the nose right now but at least this story wraps up mostly tidly.

Indignerds is a set of short comics by indigenous artists/writers and it's delightful. Meant to showcase indigenous joy in nerdiness, the stories balance traditions and modern pop culture. 5/5

Dark Archives is a really well written and interesting history of books actually/supposedly made of human skin, the verification or debunking and history of specific books, and the history of how the books came about. Weird gross history, both academic and accessible. 5/5

I know all my reps in New York aren't on board with this dangerous nonsense, but I want to know that they are actively fighting it any way they can and not just wringing their hands.
