Stout, thick-limbed and densely-packed. Like a mailbox made of meat. Pretty erudite for a caveman. Writer/Shiftless Layabout.
So glad you're okay!

Damn! That sucks. I totalled a car before. Rolled it on an icy hill in the middle of nowhere. Uninjured but terrified. Sucktown.

If our company forces us to fully return to the office (they've been obliquely) I will start looking for a gig closer to home. It just isn't worth it. My quality of life is important to me and I'm furious it took me so long to realize that. I've seen the other side of this fence and it blows.

But the thing that the corporate overlords don't understand is that we're actually MORE productive this way. Every co-worker I know puts in more than the hours we're officially supposed to. I know we shouldn't, but that's just how it is.

WFH is DEmiserating.

Not having to fight my way, twice a day, through the chaos and hostility of Penn Station has been a boon to my mood. Being able to throw laundry in the machine in the middle of a Tuesday has made my weekends actually restorative and relaxing! And sleep! Amazing what a difference sleeping makes!

Because commuting is a part-time job that sucks really, really hard ... that costs you money for the privilege. It sucks out your money, your time and your energy. Immiserating.

Couldn't agree more loudly! I trudged back and forth to NYC from NJ for 20+ years. Then Covid hit. WFH was a revelation. For my finances, my health, AND my mental well-being. Without paying for subway, lunch, parking and NJ Transit, I paid off my credit cards. Getting back 4+ HOURS A DAY was MAGIC.
