If the answer is still yes, then you have to ask yourself which grading service to go with. For all the pros and cons I've heard, CGC still seems to be the grading service many still lean towards. There is also CBCS, PSA, PGX, and some I am forgetting or maybe I don't even know about.

Ask yourself - - is that dollar amount worth your time and trouble less the fee - - the grading service wants reflective of its' value; that is, the more valuable the book, the higher the fee + the shipping costs back and forth.

If the answer is yes, then, I'd have to do my homework. What did the book sell for recently on ebay and what did it recently sell for via the information on the website go collect?

3) Are you considering selling this book anytime soon? Because presumably your thought is to have no argument regarding the grading when it comes to selling the book. If the answer is no to any of these questions; then I'd hold off.

It may be cost prohibitive to get everything graded. Perhaps start with your most valuable book and ask yourself  1)  Is it a key issue?   2) Assuming you don't have a book from the  1950s or older, would you consider the book to be in very fine to excellent condition for its age?

Great book! My dad got it when I was little; and I was just blown away with all the pics inside - forever burned in my brain. I probably had more hours with this book than he did.

Memphis, TN had Sivad who retired when I was little. Detroit, MI had Sir Graves Ghastly (and the Ghoul out of NE Ohio). I'd visit my buddy in Indianapolis, IN and they had Sammy Terry (cemetery). When our family moved to WI, Wausau had a show called "7 Cemetery Road," but I don't recall a host.

My belated condolences. I enjoyed your recollections when you met her.

Great conversation and points from both of you! (This is an issue I fondly remember; the first one I read of this title as a really little kid.)

Good eye; great catch! Yeah; and how in the world can he hang onto the dog without one or both falling?! In this comic version based on the novel, the character Cyrus had a dog named Top. (Also, there were no female characters; nor giant creatures, but a "sea cow" and a jaguar.)

It's stupendous! I'm so glad you shared this amazing artwork with others!

I'm not sure what was in writer Robert Kanigher's head at the time; he wrote both stories. In WW122, aliens sent a giant Wonder Woman to cause problems for Wonder Woman; and in WW136, aliens turned Wonder Woman into a giant. Silver age WW was a trip!

What a bargain!

And great mentions of Columbo, Ellery Queen, Banacek, and Elsbeth among many others as well! (Was Poker Face mentioned?) I think I'd put Monk on my honorable mention list ... and now my mind is going on overdrive to try to think of more. Thanks for a great show!

Great guests! Great topic! Great host! Great discussion! I was taking notes on this one for shows I didn't know was out there. If you like Sister Boniface, you may like Father Brown. I recently found/watched "Why Didn't They Ask Evans?" - a period British mystery mini-series a few years old.
