GT4 and 5 were the only ones to have actual 24 hour events.

I was introduced to Command & Conquer + Red Alert via PS1, they weren't all bad. =p Not that I used it, but the PS1 had a pretty well supported mouse, even in some FPS games.
I have little doubt it would have needed some changes, but Bungie have only said they never got as far as it running on PS2.

Funnily enough, if you know your stuff, Halo was first shown to the world at MacWorld. By Steve Jobs. It was to be Apple's crown jewel to show the Power Mac was a real gaming platform.
There might have even been a PS2 port if the Microsoft acquisition didn't happen.
So its all full circle really.

So it needs some patching, and I'd probably be disappointed if I was just buying the game and playing it, but streaming, as is often the case, changes the dynamic.
I'm entertained, not frustrated.
Can certainly see the VR version as one of the better offerings for that format.

As it turns out, the slow and cumbersome player movement (lore wise, you had a massive spinal injury in the past. You're not a Colonial Marine, you're a medically discharged former Colonial Marine) keeps the slower, tanky (& janky) Xenomorphs a threat when things get hectic... like tank controls.
September 30, 2025 at 10:45 PM
And some... I don't want to sound mean, but Aliens: Colonial Marines-esque Xeno movements.
It is what it is. A VR game that's had the VR stripped out and at a more budget price. It's not a full rework. The limitations of VR moment are even a core part of the story emphasised right at the start.

You're right to bring up Doom, but that 'update' (which was a completely new port replacing the original) was basically only free because Bethesda/MS ate up the cost of contracting ND. It was awesome, but also not to be taken for granted.
From the development side, that was also a separate project.
September 30, 2025 at 10:23 PM
However, based on what has been said, this is not built upon the foundation of Fresh Supply (which was reverse engineered). It is a new *port* from scratch. Everything that is built around that core game.
That's not insignificant and is not an 'update' to Fresh Supply.

There's a fair bit to break down here that isn't really suited to the limited text format, but there is a bit more to it than you're suggesting, and that includes with Doom.
I was never suggesting the actual core of Blood was being remade from scratch, which I think is what you're getting at.
September 30, 2025 at 10:15 PM
Have you got any evidence for that? Because I'm going via Kaiser who's pretty upfront about sticking to Fresh Supply if its flaws don't bother you. Based on these exchanges, I'm a bit more inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt over you. twitter.com/SVKaiser/sta...

Then don’t. No one’s forcing you to get the version that’s been remade from scratch. I hope all caps yelling makes you feel better.

Regarding Doom etc, it would have to have been an iD/Bethesda/MS call regards to those reworks being free. After all, the original 2019 25th anniversary Bethesda ports were by Nerve in Unity. They didn't have NightDive involved at all. So ND would have been contracted by Bethesda for 2024.
September 28, 2025 at 11:34 PM
It could go either way really. To be honest though, since this is meant to be a new remaster from scratch with the original source code, then an upgrade path is probably not entirely unreasonable.

Calling 66% a "small" discount is perhaps a little bit disingenuous.

Sega don't publish them, fund them or even acknowledge their existence. You can check social media and find Sega's channels make zero reference to the HotD2 remake releasing, nor do they put the trailers on their youtube channel.
At this point, they are like the Mario/Zelda CDi games. =p

But it is kinda wild how much of the coverage for that seems to think those are actual Sega projects, or Sega outsourced them, or question why Sega keep going back to them.
Forever Entertainment paid Sega for a multi-game licensing deal. That's kind of it.
August 28, 2025 at 10:43 AM
And on the other, Megapixel/Forever Entertainment. From a maligned but eventually "fine enough" Panzer Dragoon remaster to the just released House of the Dead 2 remake that doesn't really seem to have taken on board the critiques of the first games remake and cementing a poor reputation.

One the one side, the success of Lizardcube from remaking Wonderboy The Dragon's Trap, building that working relationship with Sega and developing it in new entry to a series with Streets of Rage 4 and culminating in Sega's direct involvement in publishing (and funding) Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
