I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

Today was my youngest 1 year checkup at her pediatrician. Everything is good but me, mom, and our pediatrician: not so much.

We had some serious discussions on hypotheticals about “what happens if a vaccine is banned”. It’s beyond frustrating this is a conversation. For us. For medical personal.

I started adding a "What if we did nothing" solution to tech proposals I write alongside actual solutions. It isn't to try to get out of doing work. It's more to add more context to the "why should we solve this problem" question

Every AoC, I’m reminded why I still enjoy using clojure.

I have a template repo I use with deps.edn configured and some basic tooling but, even still, the time from REPL to solution is just pure joy.

Sucks when you go back to your day job language too!

😂 I love this so much.

This is a landing page for Half Life 2’s 20th aniversary (www.half-life.com/en/halflife2...), and it has an easter egg; you can enable the object grabber from the game and wreck havoc on the page:

Anyone have good articles or thoughts on improving the culture around writing tests?

We’re struggling on our team not because we don’t want to write tests but legacy code is in the way.

The fact Clojurescript apps can still be deployed on Netlify is amazing. They are a few versions behind on tools.deps but it isn’t blocking anything!
