In the past many Dutch drainage engineers were employed in Fen drainage. Pode Hole is at the head of Vernatt's drain. I think it quite likely people were familiar with Dutch vocabulary

I can't cope with window cleaning any more, so I have engaged the services of a window cleaner 4 times a year.. He came last week. Two days ago We had an owl strike on the window, leaving the characteristic outline pattern.
