pnw lifer, mostly sahp, adhd brain, lackluster bahu, quilter, 2x hyperemesis, formerly #toastietwitter,
So far, my tariff anxiety purchases have been limited to Kirkland maple syrup. (We usually don’t use more than one jug/year 🙈)

Finished quilt top! Lessons learned-
1. don’t rush design choices
2. Pressing & trimming at every step really does make a big difference
3. Trimming & pressing are actually compatible with active parenting duty - while the kids
play together.
4. Much easier to sew with 2 & 5yo than 1 & 4yo.

Sewing my blocks together and I just noticed this one lil guy 🤦🏻‍♀️

I should fix it… but I might not 😂

These patterned fabrics are book themed which felt right for a lovey quilt.

But I’m pretty vexed at my overlooking lack of contrast between hearts & background.

Not sure to proceed or redo with higher contrast.

Maybe just a lesson learned! It’s for my house so kinda nbd that it’s not awesome.

Wah wah no Rilo Kiley tickets for me 😭

The rigs we bought in India arrived and I like them a little more than I think is healthy to be attached to objects.

I know this is just a mistranslation goof, but it really seems like whomever wrote the copy for this play cut fruit set had siblings and understood fighting over it is half the fun.

Done with my election stress quilt top!

Election stress sewing update! Not bad for total chaos, unplanned design on the fly, sticking to supplies I already had.

I’m considering if I should do a narrow, solid border all the way around. I don’t have any suitable batik yardage but do have a dark teal ombré that would coordinate well. 🤔

This is where I’m at. I cut up all the “braid” long sets into 7.5in squares, have added vertical sashing to all the blocks and am now gonna strip piece the horizontal rows. I think I have enough scrap left from the big braids to make cornerstones throughout.

We’ll see that may be a fools errand.

I started this seven years ago. It’s a gift for my MIL. My mom and I bought the fabric at the stichin’ post in Sisters. 🤞I can get this finished in the next three weeks. Originally it was going to be a quillow, but I think just a throw now. I’m not sure why I constructed it in such long panels.

Finally finished this quilt for this little guy. We’re both really happy with it!

Happy Krishna Janmashtami! Today we celebrate Lord Krishna’s birthday by decorating a fun scene for him and dressed the kids up like baby Krishna. Happy birthday Krishna Bhagwan 🙏🏻🧈🧈🧈💐🎂

1325 squares (should have been 1320)
untold seams ripped and redone

But it’s finished!

Mistakes have been made, but it’s still looking pretty neat! I’m actually going to try rearranging fairly significantly to hopefully get a rounder arch. Also my design wall isn’t wide enough for the rest of the strips.

Second strip set done. I’ve realized I’ve been procrastinating a bit because sewing the straight strips together is boring as all get out. Next up is cutting which is also not a favorite task. This is shaping up to be my first and last bargello quilt 😂
May 28, 2024 at 7:44 PM
4 yo wants a rainbow quilt, we decided on a bargello. First jelly roll set sewn together, my next step is to make a second one just like this. I changed direction on each seam for the first one but due to different WOF it came out all wonky. Think I’ll just sew same direction for the second.

Happy texting random Indian uncles to buy fresh, directly imported mangoes out of someone’s garage season to all who celebrate!

Finished with this impromptu baby quilt. I need to mail $$$ baby stuff back to the person who lent it.

I realized I could use up this green fabric, try new to me features of my buy nothing machine & get a nice baby gift. Will need more practice adding names to binding before I try that again 🤦🏻‍♀️
March 25, 2024 at 6:57 PM
I’ve done zero measuring for this quilt and it looks like I have just enough binding to eek it out
March 22, 2024 at 12:58 AM
Top done! Whew! I’m feeling great about how quickly this came together and was able to use up nearly all of that green from this layer cake. I found fabrics for backing and binding in my stash. Might be done for today, who knows if the kids will allow me to work on it any more for now.

Coming along! Really trying to just get it done today (lol) rather than fussing over perfection.

Finished quilt top at last!
March 17, 2024 at 7:48 AM
Finished all of my blocks (plus a bonus) and I’m so happy with them! Sashing and borders next up! The border will have prairie points which will be new to me.
