call me annoyingly curious, but almost everything interests me (not really concerned with asparagus). i have an opinion on everything and dislike purposeful ignorance.

"Pessimism is Old World and reactionary." Upwingers: A Futurist Manifesto - FM Esfandiary, 1973

i loved the book Abundance. kind of a rehash of Upwingers & some older books (oddly Small is Beautiful by Schumacher). that said. read it. but read Chokepoints & When More is not Better at same time.

i sort of agree with this.

how about try this. if you feel like a book is becoming a slog, skip to the last chapter and read it. if the last chapter opens up some possibility you didn't envision, the book is worth restarting.
You shouldn’t finish every book you start.

Abandoning a book is not an admission of failure—it’s a sign of wisdom. You’ve decided to let go of sunk costs.

The purpose of reading is to be entertained and informed. If a book doesn't bring joy or insight, it’s time to move on.

"we're offering them something better"

every democrat should write this on a notecard and carry it with them everywhere they go. if what they are saying, or doing, is not offering anything to make someone's life better, scrap it.
Walz: I own this. We wouldn’t be in this mess if we'd have won the election and we didn't. We have to make sure that Americans know it's not just that Donald Trump is bad, but we're offering them something better

he's correct. this is also a secret businesses know, well, at least the ones who don't believe business is war .........
"Economics is actually beautiful because it's the study of human cooperation... It's that cooperation that grows the pie bigger that is the most exciting part of economics, and it's also the part that's completely absent from the Trump agenda."

hmmmmmmmmmmm ... prices up for those seeking to buy aluminum. so, once again, the buyer pays for tariffs.

it sure seems like most of confirmed Trump cabinet members lied a lot in confirmation meetings (and they aren't even one month in).

the question everyone should ask every time they read about something DOGE/Trump has "cut" is "does this make my life better?" 'cause i'm fairly sure even if you voted for Trump you didn't want to "make life worse again".
Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans killed Medicare coverage of telehealth.

This may be an in-the-weeds policy issue, but the reality of the matter is important. If there are low-information low engagement swing voters in your life, especially seniors, you need to make sure they understand.
